Let me know how that works for him.
Cruz announces plan B for defunding Obamacare: Shut down the military
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Sunday warned Senate Republicans that refusing to filibuster a bill that defunds President Barack Obamas health care reform law is a vote for Obamacare, and he also advised House Republicans to shut down the military if they had to.
After a summer of insisting that Republicans should pass a budget that would defund Obamacare or shut down the government if the president refused to sign it, Cruz got exactly what he wanted last week. House Republicans rallied behind a continuing resolution that stripped funding from the Affordable Care Act, but Senate Democrats were expected to add funding back or refuse to pass the measure.
In a Sunday interview, Cruz told Fox News host Chris Wallace that Senate Republicans should stand together and refuse to vote for cloture by filibustering if Democrats added Obamacare funding to the bill.
(snip)
If Harry Reid kills the bill in the Senate, the House should hold its ground, and should begin passing smaller continuing resolutions, one department at a time, Cruz explained. It should start with a continuing resolution focused on the military.
Send it over, see if Harry Reid is willing to shut down the military, he quipped.

(16,254 posts)We could probably get our country back if we could get rid of this jerk, Callous Cruz, Issa, Cantor, Paul and Ryan. I can just picture them as little kids with their orange crate clubhouse, planning what they're going to do with the smart kids in the neighborhood. Of course, Cruz gives the orders and then stands back while the rest do the dirty work. If the US is so bad, he should go back to Canada (where they have government healthcare) and leave us alone.
From what little I've seen of his father, the apple didn't fall too far from the tree.

(5,279 posts)If you stop the money going into the military, the military won't just stop like a pouty school boy. The Military industrial complex might have stoppages, but the actual military will click along as best as they can. Remember Vally Forge? the Alamo? the battle of Bataan? Midway? the beginning of the Civil war for the North, and the end of the Civil war for the South? As long as the already accumulated stores hold out (and beyond that, I'll wager) the actual military will function.
The ones who will shit all over themselves are the military contractors, both suppliers and mercenary groups; corporate entities. As far as I'm concerned, the MIC could use a jarring kick to their pedestal to help them "refocus" their priorities, and the mercenary contractors should be reabsorbed into the actual military or quietly vanish into the dust (the organizations not the persons).
As to Mr Cruz. Your input has been "entertaining" to say the least, Please go fuck yourself, and I say that in all sincerity. Actually, and as painfully as possible, twist an erection around and insert in inside yourself.
