State report cards show: Charter schools received many more Ds and Fs than good grades (OH)

September 24, 2013 at 1:08 PM

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Charter schools in Ohio performed far worse than traditional districts on the most recent state report cards.

On measures of student achievement and academic progress, charters statewide had a tiny percentage with top grades and a far larger share with poor grades on both.

Charter schools, public schools that are publicly-funded but privately-run, are always a subject of heated debate in Ohio and other states that allow them as an alternative to the traditional school districts.

The above chart, courtesy of the Fordham Institute's recent compilation of the 2012-13 state report cards, offers the same look that Fordham pie charts showed about district schools last week: How were the different A-F grades distributed among schools statewide?

The Private sector doesn't always deliver a better product, they're simply "profitable" about whatever they are doing.

No more treasury for the 1%- they have more than they know what to do with as it is.
