(30,252 posts)Here in Texas, we're used to hearing about Rick Perry instead of Scott Perry. For that, mea culpa.
Did you notice, however, that the first paragraph at the link identifies him as Steve Perry? What would Journey say?
honest mistake

(269,144 posts)I just couldn't take listening to Perry say one more time, "what the american people want." I was screaming at the screen I am an American Person and I sure as hell don't want what you and your fellow asshat Tea Pukers want.
I figured it was time to turn it off before I broke my TV.

(7,549 posts)at the beginning he made it sound like it was all Cruz fault and was allowing King to make it sound like Boner was willing to be reasonable.
Bull! None of the PUKES are reasonable. The House passed the Bill with Defund the AHCA, their piling on their wish list, Boner said they are not going to class a clean bill, its not just Cruz. He's a part of it and maybe even a big part of it but he is hardly alone. All the PUKES should be getting the blame period.

(13,992 posts)And keep this in mind when talking to your Freeper Uncle...
You saw that when talking about spending, Perry was trying to blame Obama for spending this much or spending that much, as though Congress were blameless and it's just the big-spending White House that's causing all the trouble.
Here's the thing. Congress actually spends very little. I don't have figures for it, but when you look at the cost of the federal government, the cost of Congressional salaries (including staff) and maintaining things like office space, etc., etc., is comparatively a very small slice of total federal spending.
It's the Executive Branch, with all of its Cabinet-level agencies, that do the implementation of the laws passed by Congress. So of course Obama is spending this much and spending that much. In part, that's because the law REQUIRES it (it's called the Impoundment Control Act of 1974). If Congress appropriates the funds, the President is obligated to spend it. Implementation of a law is always going to be cheaper that the act of passing the law.
Something Like This:
Cost of Declaring War on Germany and Japan: $0
Cost of Defeating Germany and Japan: $3.5 trillion (in 2005 dollars)

(10,893 posts)I thought you were talking about RICK Perry, but I'd be kidding myself to think that he would ever appear on MSNBC. Matthews was actually lucky to even have this guy on his show; as most of us are aware, it is notoriously difficult for MSNBC hosts to lure RWers on their shows. Most of them are afraid to be challenged.
