"Just heard a woman on the radio...."

Status Update
By Andy Borowitz

Just heard a woman on the radio talking about being able to get health insurance for the first time. This is the kind of nightmare scenario Republicans are trying to prevent.

to help her out each month. She is perfectly healthy and never missed a day of work, but she had to pay $350 a month for her health care. Now she will pay less than $100. Wahoo!!

She was afraid the costs would be too high. Her income is 9k a year after working at McDonalds or 10 years. I told her that she should qualify for the states medicaid program. She might end up paying 15 dollars for an OV or a small copay on prescriptions, but she was so excited that she would finally be able to see a Dr. She'll be 50 next year.

I'm so happy for her, I could just cry.

that are going to spread like wildfire. I'm thinking at this point that the successful rollout of ACA and ongoing sign-ups are going to diminish the pettiness and insanity of the shutdown. It will be over quickly.

15. Absolutely right. The "glitches" being over-popularity. Like someone said, I'm going to save $3,000

next year. That's worth a second call, or even a third. Some years it's good to be a Democrat...thanks to PBO for standing firm throughout the political tantrums.

Next stop Single-Payer...but this step was essential. The political pendulum is hopefully swinging in this direction.

People get health insurance that they can afford. No decent nation would tolerate this, would it?

It would?

Never mind.

aunt and uncle dying as babies because their parents couldn't save them from their real killer, poverty. My Uncle Barney and Aunt Margaret buried to kids of their own on the hill behind their farm about the same time for the same reason. Born at home, died at home, buried at home. I know their little graves have been forgotten. I can hardly breathe sometimes just thinking about it.
