Carol Burnett is in for a night of laughs when she receives the Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on Oct. 20.
Julie Andrews,Tony Bennett, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph are among performers set to salute the legendary comic.
The star-studded lineup also includes Martin Short, Rosemary Watson, Lucie Arnaz, Tim Conway, Rashida Jones and Vicki Lawrence. The evening will pay tribute to the humor and accomplishments of Burnett, and will be taped to air on Nov. 24 as Carol Burnett: The Kennedy Center Mark Twain Prize on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings).
Previous recipients of the prize, which honors Mark Twain's tradition of satire and social commentary, include Richard Pryor, Carl Reiner, Whoopi Goldberg, Bob Newhart, Bill Cosby, Tina Fey and last year's Ellen DeGeneres.

(5,762 posts)Her hilarious performances inspired me at an early age to try my hand at writing and performing comedy. I'm no genius, but without her inspiration, I might not be a writer at all.

(56,177 posts)too young to stay up...I hated that! I just knew it was wonderful without seeing it, and when I was finally old enough, I found out just how great it was.
