Democrats won Congress in 2006 by opposing the war, and when Bush would not change his policy, Democrats did not respond by cutting off funds for an ongoing operation, as was their prerogative. Democrats were responsible, and pushed ending the war as much as possible from Congress, but in the end had to wait until 2008 to retake the White House to effect real change.

Hostage-taking and sabotage were, and are, unthinkable to Democrats. I'm gobsmacked that this behavior by the Republicans is being spoken of, at least in some quarters, as if it were any more legitimate than kidnapping and extortion.

It was right after Obama let New Orleans drown after Hurricane Katrina. Worst disaster since Obama let the Germans bomb Pearl Harbor.
