few notice.
This isn't passive. This is how you *win* with these cretins.
That is all
The GOP is driving down a blind alley and the President is saying "Proceed at your own risk"

(15,438 posts)This quote comes to mind:
When you do something right, no one seems to remember, but when you do something wrong, no one seems to forget.
This has been so sadly true when it comes to President Obama.

The Wizard
(12,549 posts)was thinking he could have good faith negotiations with Republican political hostage takers. The United States does not negotiate with terrorists.

the momentum has built over these years and we will finally hear the trap shut on their ratfucking asses.
it couldn't have played out any other way. Timing is everything and the President is Master at that.

(297,692 posts)now. No one can say he hasn't tried to negotiate in the past.
Oh, and the terrorists had this planned for a long time.

(10,274 posts)But yeah, when the "Loyal Opposition" decided on Inauguration Night that the extent of their negotiating position would simply be "Fuck You", yeah you can't really do much with that.
And what really pisses me off about the whole thing?
THINK of what this Presidency COULD have stood for, had we actually had a LOYAL Opposition.
That it was not to be was the result of their base being MADE TO BE AFRAID of everything and everyONE except themselves, and they were made so simply so the people KEEPING them afraid could make MONEY.
Fear, (at some point in ones life) is part and parcel to The Human Experience. The OTHER part is having the courage to deal with it, accept it, and to turn it from something destructive to something generative. But not so for the GOP base..the people who sell them a steady diet of horror will never, EVER offer them the antidote.
Chris Hedges statement "The Courage to be VULNERABLE" comes to mind, and they have NONE OF IT, because it has been INTENTIONALLY denied to them.
Truly, it's not the rank-and-file over that I loathe. Actually, I find myself having quite a bit of compassion for their circumstance...what must it be like to hear, day after day after day, that everything you value is GOING to be stripped from you...what must that level of anxiety FEEL LIKE, what must it DO to an otherwise reasonable Human Mind?
This is Political version of Shock Doctrine, pure and simple, and it's being perpetrated on OUR FELLOW CITIZENS.
Again, its not the average Joe over there that rile me. It's the SELLERS of the fear. For them, there can be NO MERCY. For THEM, there can be Quarter or Compassion.
