after they ALLOW the gov. to function again. Sounds like gov. workers are just getting a nice little paid vacation! Way to save money you stupid fools.

I'm glad workers will be getting back pay, btw. They did not cause or ask for any of this insanity.

But, yes, shutdowns usually end up costing more than keeping the government open that whole time.

(37,305 posts)My buddy says his friend is pissed because he is an essential worker but is not getting paid. Therefore he had double work to make up for the non-essential guys that are probably getting back pay. The guy is steamed.

(56,582 posts)The furloughed employees in the 95-96 shutdown got IIRC 85% of what they would have made if they were working.

(7,412 posts)The Senate was expected to pass it and the President said he supported it so we don;t have to worry about that. It included paying the furloughed employees back pay as well. I have been furloughed since Tuesday and will get paid for it once this is all over at least.

(154,021 posts)With great show, and it should. It's not the workers fault. For the record, my sis works at a Navy Hospital. She is considered essential, and has been working since Monday without pay.
