of saving money? Taxpayers will be spending billions for the shut down. Net effect: Thuglicans are costing, not saving, us money.

I'm glad workers will be getting back pay, btw. They did not cause or ask for any of this insanity.

And probably won't get all of what they would have gotten.

But, yes, shutdowns usually end up costing more than keeping the government open that whole time.

My buddy says his friend is pissed because he is an essential worker but is not getting paid. Therefore he had double work to make up for the non-essential guys that are probably getting back pay. The guy is steamed.

The furloughed employees in the 95-96 shutdown got IIRC 85% of what they would have made if they were working.

There was nothing requiring them to do that, and they didn't do it at 100% last time.

Police officers and the like are working without pay, hoping that the ever-so-benevolent GOP will vote to give them back-pay when the shutdown is over.

The Senate was expected to pass it and the President said he supported it so we don;t have to worry about that. It included paying the furloughed employees back pay as well. I have been furloughed since Tuesday and will get paid for it once this is all over at least.

With great show, and it should. It's not the workers fault. For the record, my sis works at a Navy Hospital. She is considered essential, and has been working since Monday without pay.
