It was at a Farmer's market that my wife and I regularly visit in Northern Virginia. There was a Cuccinelli for Governor table set up, and it was staffed by two men and a young woman. For those not familiar with Virginia politics, Ken Cuccinelli is a total whack job who is fervently trying to re-cast himself as a moderate, interested only in "jobs, jobs, JOBS!" Unfortunately for the Cooch, he has a long history of rabid support for such job-creating measures as de-funding Planned Parenthood, the criminalization of consensual sodomy, outlawing abortions even in the case of rape or incest, and support for a "Personhood" bill which would have made the pill and IUD devices illegal.
I respectfully (I swear!) pointed out those positions to the woman, and told her that I was genuinely curious as to why any woman would support Cuccinelli. She responded by pretty much telling me that I could safely ignore every position he has ever fought for as a Delegate and as the state Attorney General, because as Governor his sole focus would be on jobs, jobs, JOBS!
At this point I had heard enough, and I told her, "Ma'am, the only jobs Ken Cuccinelli is interested in are blow jobs, and only because he wants to make them illegal." She tried to get a little bit huffy, but her heart clearly wasn't in it (and one of the guys at the table had to turn around to hide his laughter.)
I doubt that I changed any minds, but my wife laughed all the way home.

(68,918 posts)It is always crazy when women campaign for men who seem to only be interested in legislating against reproductive rights.
