We had protest in Alamogordo, NM

Thanks DU for ideas in another, earlier post:
Taking down our gov't IS an act of terrorism.
Tea Party is willing to hurt Americans in their attempt to hurt our President.
Honk for Affordable Health Care.
Health care for all!
How does taking down our government served the people?

The vast majority of comments were so ugly. We live in a fundamentalist, military, Republican dominated county and could use some DU 'love.'
I was proud to stand with veterans and good folks.

We kinda 'had' to do it after one man had his sign up and committed to being there 7 days a week, from 9 'til 6 until this fiasco is over. Had to.

Kudos Alamogordo NM!

Anyone in the central fl area wanna go and stand in front of douche bag teahadist Mica office in fl with me? I can't spell for crap but I got lots of sign making material and time.

No seriously how long do we wait to protest these acts of terror?

But I suggest you find at least one other centered, Zen-ish, someone who holds MLK, Gandhi/Dalai Lama as the way they want to respond. I had to keep a picture on the young woman entering Little Rock school in my head as we were name called, fingers, etc.

For me it's:

"Some men see things as they are and say why - I dream things that never were and say why not."
-- George Bernard Shaw

And I am serious if I can find someone to go with me I will do it. If I didn't life in central FL I'd do it by myself, but we have that stand your ground law and I refuse to own a gun, and there are a lot of The Crazy here so I definitely need someone else. Of course I will have Corporal Hicks with me but he is a 5 month old Great Pyrenees and not full grown yet only 60lbs right now when full grown he will be 120lbs.

Really if anyone is interested email me on DU I really want to do this!

It's been an amazing week. It was incredibly life affirming. We had 15-20 thumbs up, waves with smiles, shouts of agreement for every 1 'Obama sucks' or "Commie-Socialist.'

And thanked. And joined!!!

The teabaggers ARE an American version of al Qaeda.

And I'll go you one further - Having Affordable Healthcare and not having to worry about the wolf at the door every sleepless night - IS homeland security. AND national security - and whatever else you call it.

But isn't it true? THIS TOO is Homeland Security.

After all - how secure do you feel when you know that you're ONE accident or serious illness away from bankruptcy? You just got laid off or otherwise lost your job - are you going to lose your house as well? How will you stay on top of your bills? How much sleep do you get per night, on average, with all of that weighing on you? Or you have a kid or other loved one who's got a disability - how do you give him/her the best care he/she needs and deserves if you're not working? And if you are? How secure is your job in this unbelievably flaky time? And what's your employer doing to cut corners on your benefits package, assuming you have one. Not everybody does. So how secure do you feel in your own home, in your own bed at night, working hard or looking hard for work, minding your own business, playing by the rules, and you still have to deal with this gnawing pain every day? What-the-hell kind of "homeland security" is THAT?

BUT! As of now, you can realistically figure on waking up the next morning MAYBE not quite perky and bright-eyed, but perhaps you got a little more sleep the previous night than you did the night before - because you now know there'll be a way to get health care coverage. At long last. That's one worry off the table. At long last! And it wasn't a small-size worry, either!

These beasts on the other side - How DARE they try to deprive you of that? My dad used to call it "IGMFU." Stood for "I Got Mine, F-U." And the GOP sure seems to love (and want) an IGMFU world. Oh, and btw (this one kills me!), they're the ones who'll pull out the Bible quotes - usually from an epistle from some early Christian middleman telling you if you don't work you can't eat. OR the ol' Gospel-Hour favorite, the ever-faithful Book of Leviticus. And they will also insinuate that they are the greater or more legitimate followers of Christ - certainly, than YOU are. Well, the problem with these alleged Christians is they wouldn't know a Beatitude from a take-out menu from Domino's Pizza. But then again, if you're all about worshipping Supply-Side Jesus, then you need make no room for "the least of these."

Anyway, excuse me for ranting on ... and on ... sorry. These assholes just piss me off in more ways than I can count! I love the ideas on your protest signs! I'm honored to help!

True individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made.

~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

We know which scenario the GOP wants.

Showed up.

Where is everybody--nationwide?
We should be in the streets by the millions.

We need organized Teach-ins.

We're being shockingly passive.

Was that near the golf course? I'm not the familiar with the area, may end there eventually. Have some family there, retired from government service.
