Bikers who Beat up SUV Driver Attempted to Grab his Wife

The man who put himself between an angry group of motorcyclists and the driver they pulled out of an SUV to beat up, says that they almost injured his wife as well.

Sergio Consuegra is being considered a hero for stepping in when he witnessed a large group of motorcyclists surround an SUV on Manhattan's 178th Street last week and pull the driver out of the vehicle.

At least six cyclists started beating the driver, Alexian Lien, for accidentally running over a fellow biker when the group started riding aggressively.

While it was originally thought that the gang was only targeting Mr Lien, and not his wife and 2-year-old child, Consuegra gave a different story today at the scene of the crime.

Surrounded elected officials, Consuegra spoke about the incident on September 29, saying he saw one of the bikers try to grab Mr Lien's wife, Rosalyn Ng.

'She was kind of making some sounds, he said. 'I saw a baby inside; she had the baby in her arms, I guess she was protecting the baby from all the glass that was flying inside and outside.'

It wasn't until bystanders outside started screaming for the woman to be left alone that the man finally let her go.

'There was more coming, and they felt like they wanted to keep hurting the man - and I felt intense danger at that moment, at that time, and I say to myself, "Let me not show these people that I'm here to engage in any kind of confrontation but that I'm here to protect the man and the family, so I'm going to keep it cool." That's what I was thinking' he said.
