(90,770 posts).... not get diddly squat. We're all going to get hurt from their tantrum, but this time I really think it's over for them.
Unfortunately, we know they'll try again, like the spoiled brats they are. But they've gone too far... To hell with them.

(3,539 posts)on the GOP wish list and it would be difficult to predict what the next whim will be.
It will not be sudden and unexpected.
Like the ACA's "death panels" and "household visits", the demand will be proceeded by an intensive PR campaign.
The demand to eliminate the Dept. of Education for example would start with Limbaugh and the like pointing out how expensive teachers unions are. Fox would begin showing 'news' of the dangers of public schools even going as far as using school shootings to illustrate that non union schools could afford to have armed guards.
When "public outcry" and sufficient buying power reach a tipping point then the debt ceiling will be approved after we "negotiate" for the elimination of the DOE.
Naturally the PR campaign for other items you mentioned and more will be occurring concurrently. The next point of "negotiations" will be selected on the simple bases of "public opinion" and the readiness of the money base to execute that element of the coup.
The ACA may be only a convenient excuse to wage the first battle in how this government works.
Yes, I know this sounds a little Glenn Beckish, still history shows that every time we fold, the GOP will be back for more.
