People living in poverty in the UK is between 15-21% (depending upon where the line is drawn) which is at or above the statistic that the above Guardian article quotes.

Why is that?

major distribution channels only interested in what generates $$$$$ for them and support of the oligarchy and corruption in the US. Stories on poverty distort the delusion that all is well in America, stories on poverty might stir up the serfs who just might join forces and rebel.

With millions in disposal income while there are people starving in America, the problem will continue to fester. Left or Right, there are few if any exceptions. Preaching against poverty, while spending your millions on high living standards for yourself, does nothing to help those in the gutter.
