He was willing to have chained CPI. No way. Want to destroy jobs in America. Cut Social Security. We seniors spend the money we get from Social Security. We hire people to do things we can no longer do for ourselves. Social Security goes back into the American economy -- more directly than almost anything else.

Besides, our government has had over 65 years to prepare for the retirement of the baby boomers. And in fact, it did. It raised our Social Security taxes and established a trust fund. Only problem is Bush spent our trust fund on his wars and tax cuts for his buddies. We should not suffer because Bush stole our savings and gave it to his friends.

Me thinks President Barack H. Obama is playing a game of chess - as a Master -and do it far better then Speaker Boehner is able to do it. He on the other hand do have a lot of conflict inside his own Party.. As I understand it, he is not popular at all - in fact he is living on a thin like where he might as well could fall down - and lose everything.. His power - his office and his statue in the world.. For some persons - it is more important than everything else to have power - and the big office - than to do good for the country...

And I might as well think that the President of the United States told the Speaker a few candid word about the possibility of a default - and that he do not approve of what persons the Speaker is playing with... And maybe the President got to candid with the Speaker.... Many pepole whos is used to never be told the truth - tend to get angry - when someone is telling them the truth about the reality of the world...

Or it could be, that he was not able to get his drinks - maybe the President had a "dry" day at the office.... Of course to keep the Speaker on the subjects at hand..

I wil look at Rachel- when it is little more in my "timezone" to do it - but yeah I think Boehener and in general the GOP got their asses kicked from the President this time around.. I suspect he gave the Speaker of the House a lexture about who would be kept responsible if the US was to defult on its loans - and where the wrath of the public would be - if GOP was not acting in the best interst of the country - if not for the President - at least to the only honest thing for the country...

But the important thing, is what the Congress is doing becouse of all the Tea Party extremists - I wounder if Boehener have the power to reign in the extremist and to get enough wotes to stop this horrible gridlock - and to make the shutdown of the Government something that could end - yesterday.. I doubt he have the power - and I doubt the tea party extremist - and many of the other republicans is able - or willing to work WITH the President this time.. Even if it was to save their own face.. I fear that even if Boehener are doing all his trix and are using all his power and authorities to solve this nuclear chatastrophe who are just around the corner - I doubt the Republican Party do have enough sane persons in it in the Congress - to really just stop at the cliff - and start a long troublesome way to get on the road again...

I have no doubt it is a lot of activity on Capitol Hill - I suspect most of them are now trying their best to do something that would resolve it - and to save face for themself.. But I doubt it is anything that would undo the damage the Republican Party have been able to do to themself - and I hope - that enough americans would got to the polls next year - to trow out enough Republicans - and specially the Tea Party candidates - to make some resolve in reparing the horrible damage the Republican Party have beeing doing to the US, since Barack H.Obama got elected in 2008.. It wil take years, and years, and years to repair the horrible damage the GOP, and the tea-party groups have been doing to the US as it is..

You'd have thought that any halfway intelligent politician (OK, maybe giving Boner too much credit, but he did manage to get elected Speaker) would have had a contingency plan if the deal was turned down. A short statement to the effect that the administration still refuses to negotiate in good faith or something to that effect. Geez, the President must have really pissed off Boner ( ).

I don't know what in the hell these motherf'ers thought they were doing. I don't know if they were following Koch orders or commands from some central-elite Republican mother ship, but these jerks have really painted themselves into a corner.

And each day it gets worse for them.

They aren't making sense. They are flirting with destroying our economy--as they behave like The Three Stooges. I can't even take this seriously any more.

Their polls are tanking. The damage seems irreversible. The Democrats have absolutely no incentive to cooperate with these fools, because they created a huge mess that only makes the Democrats and the President look like the only grown ups in DC. So, they have absolutely no leverage. They've placed a ticking time bomb in their own house and they're asking Obama to come in and cut the blue wire for them.

Congressional approval ratings are lower than when Gingrich left office in shame, and hid out for years before he could ever show his face in public again. I mean really..this is the gift that keeps on giving.

And yes, it's horrible to have the debt ceiling looming. This is quite serious. However, I don't see the Republican really going through with failing to raise it. They are so far under right now and everyone sees the truth (except for the delusional tea party crazies) and they blame the Republicans. There won't be a Republican party left if they don't raise the debt ceiling.

The comedy and joy will come as the Republicans capitulate and have to cave on all of the demands and drama-mongering that they've engaged in this week.

107. "Deal" and "Negotiate"
Fri Oct 11, 2013, 07:30 AM
Oct 2013

In their meltdown the GOP has blundered into two words whose slanting they cannot control. In their extremist lexicon there are no deals and negotiation is supposedly equally a sign of weakness. The term negotiate also sounds either as if the US is negotiating with a hostile power(fact) or terrorists(also fact) especially when the other side is DEMANDING negotiations. Decades of being schooled by the government, the movies and the media these are key words that even make them look bad to the kooks that brought them there.

The lazy spinmeisters under full exposure and full public approbation have spitted themselves nicely on the hook, line and sinker included. This is inevitable when evil inevitably has its own way and expects consequences in the real world always to go its own way. Evil is stupid, or instinctively accepts an interior death knowledge.

Also, I used to post that inevitably corporate rule would degenerate into conflict with each other in the club. The harm they do to each other without accepting the need for regulation or change is amazing. ALL business would be better off buying some legislation to get the money OUT of politics, leaving the sole influence on pols being providing local jobs and benefiting their constituents(which would be good for actual business if not the fake profit orgies that have nothing of real value behind the numbers).

Also, historically, too much of big business has vested itself into two tents. It would prefer the one that sided with the public to have failed. It did not. The other party can't even represent them with the effort it takes to steal democracy and break all law. Time for the remaining sanity to plumb the unexplored territory of simple wisdom and forsake the self-entitled high arrogance and low cunning that will destroy this entire biosphere. Or maybe that time has already past.
