Status report: Signing up for a CoveredCA exchange plan under ACA, Day 10

I finally gave up on trying to accomplish anything with Google Chrome. I had only been able to get an account, but hadn't been able to even start the sign up process.

So I switched to Internet Explorer an hour ago and voila, I was able to start the application/sign up process. It still has a few minor bugs, but I got all the way through to the Choose Plan part at the end. Unfortunately, that part is still broken. I just get an error message.

I think I'll just let them work on this mess over the weekend and try again Monday. They do seem to be making slow progress.

If anybody else is having trouble, DON'T USE CHROME.

I did try with IE the other day and it didn't work, so just because some part doesn't work one doesn't mean that they won't have fixed it in a day or two.

What type of IT team would program something that works on IE and not Chrome? NoOneMan Oct 2013 #1
An IT team that's working for the OTHER team. Pretty obvious to me. kestrel91316 Oct 2013 #2

If you aren't programming for Chrome & Mozilla, you aren't a programmer. IE is a sad after thought as its bugged to shit and back. Its the web developers nightmare.

My assistant kept telling me to do it for years. I had to be dragged kicking and screaming away from IE in spite of its problems.

not necessarily how to program.

Local NPR station actually covered that well the other day.

They also said that SMALLER companies that are hungry for the work, and have far more qualified people could have done the job, but have no clue how to go through the bidding process.

Having seen more than my share of crazee with local and regional governments sounds about right

Which reminds me, I could get behind a reform, and simplification of the bidding process to make it easier on smaller, more agile, companies.
