The Obamas welcomed Malala Yousafzai to the Oval Office to thank her for her inspiring and passionate work on behalf of girls education in Pakistan, according to a statement issued by the White House.
Malala said she was honored to meet Obama and that she raised concerns with him about the administrations use of drones, saying they are fueling terrorism.
I thanked President Obama for the United States work in supporting education in Pakistan and Afghanistan and for Syrian refugees, Yousafzai said in a statement published by the Associated Press. I also expressed my concerns that drone attacks are fueling terrorism. Innocent victims are killed in these acts, and they lead to resentment among the Pakistani people. If we refocus efforts on education it will make a big impact.
Recently Malala won the European Parliaments Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. She was nominated for the Nobel peace prize, but she didnt get it.

BTW
....
Malala was also a member of the International Marxist Tendency, supporting international socialism as professed by the Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky. She sent a message to the group's thirty-second congress on March 9, 2013 asserting that members needed to push ahead in their struggle for socialism and make education reform a priority in advancing the movement

By an objective measure, Obama is worse than bush on drone strikes. More drone strikes, more frequent, more civilian deaths, strikes in more regions and countries.

(11,481 posts)a Trotskyist. Albeit one of the Grantite lineage. Still... The only post about her that has gotten any remarks on this, IMO, significant factoid is the one you posted in Socialist Progressives group. Interesting.
