Reid: GOP #1 issue is "to divert attention from the fools they've made of themselves on Obamacare."

The political calculations were evident. Polls show all portions of the electorate except tea party supporters are increasingly displeased, and Republicans are bearing the brunt of their unhappiness.

"Perhaps he sees this as the best opportunity for him to win the House in 2014," Fleming said of the president. "It's very clear to us he does not now, and never had, any intentions of negotiating."

Reid was savage.

Republicans had begun seeking concessions on health care, he said, and now their No. 1 issue is "to divert attention from the fools they've made of themselves on Obamacare."

He's only said that a million times. You can't negotiate over a debt ceiling or funding the government. It allows a minority party to circumvent the Constitution and threatens the doctrine of majority rule.

Collins' suggested compromise had gained traction in recent days, before Reid told McConnell it was a nonstarter.

In a statement, the Maine Republican called the response unfortunate, and said talks on the plan involving senators of both parties "were constructive and give me hope that a bipartisan solution to reopen government and prevent default is within our reach."

If that's the case, Collins, why tease the World's financial markets and put the full faith and credit of this country in jeopardy. Tell McConnell to put a fire under Boehner's ass and GET IT DONE!

Your actions are unconscionable. And your party's inaction speaks loudly that you're cheering for the default to come.

Surely he is aware of the meeting disgraced Reagan AG Ed Meese conducted with senior Republicans in attendance just two days after Obama was re-elected where Meese laid out the plans for Obama's 2nd administration that had at its core the shutdown of the government using repeal of Obamacare as the sure-fire weapon in their arsenal. So why would Fleming tell such an outlandish lie? Is there any wonder that Reid was so brutal in his assessment of them as being "fools".
