people on the fringes can now find each other on the internet? We know districts are gerrymandered to represent one extreme or the other. TV preaches to the converted more so than ever before. So right wing misogynists can have discussions online and feel 'backed up' in their sick opinions on the blogosphere. Which makes them even less likely to be able to connect to moderate ideas. Does this mean the sexes are going to be more divided than they currently are just like the differences between the rich and poor have been purposely grown by the right?

(118,845 posts)sexist. comments. Usually having to do with her supposed lack of sex appeal because she a woman and women's sex appeal only has to do with how much they look like a 23 year old model don't ya know!!! Like Hillary's mastery of the senate and the state department and intellect don't put her way over the top in terms of attractiveness.

(51,058 posts)becoming - and I emphasize in the process of becoming - less so. The GOP is the party of those who held power for a long time by reason of gender and color rather than by reason of any merit. So now that people of color and women are slowly eroding the barriers to their seats at the table, those who previously monopolized the table are terrified. They see competition, and they see the loss of the unearned advantages that made their lives easier than everyone else's and gave them power over everyone else.
So they are threatened and they lash back like rabid dogs. They feel wronged and unappreciated and whatever the hell else. The internet does let them commiserate, and might magnify the response, but it would be there even if there were no internet.

(11,365 posts)They will either need to convince them to vote against their own interests, or convince them not to vote. The former seems more likely.

(118,845 posts)middle class to vote against their own economic self interest. Remember it is often the older women who keep traditions, like female circumcision, alive. I hope the clock is not rolled back on equality between the sexes. But the GOP seem to know that lots of politics around the world are about controlling women's hoohaas. For whoever controls the hoohaas control the men.
