In the end, the President may be left with only one of two choices...

Does he let the country default or does he order the Treasury to pay all our debts?

The President has said that invoking the 14th Amendment is not an option that he is considering. However, he cannot let the nation default if he can prevent it. If anyone wishes to challenge his authority, they can take it to the Supreme Court.

I heard a very knowledgeable gentleman make this same argument on C-SPAN this morning.

Never get in the way or intercede when your opponent is self-destructing.

If they're that desperate to impeach and lose the House as a result...who's going to stop them? They can impeach; it'll die in the Senate. Consequently, they'll never even sniff the White House or control of either body of Congress until the Democrats do something so stupid as to hand it back to them.

Impeachment of Obama would be the grave marker of modern conservatism; buried under six feet of tea.

Impeachment requires a 2/3rds majority in the Senate to convict. Also known as 67 votes. Not gonna happen.

Meanwhile, the Republicans would announce that they are trying to get rid of the President for saving the world economy. That's not really gonna play well outside the teabaggers. And the teabaggers alone aren't aren't enough for Republicans to hold the House.

So I don't think it's a valid option for Obama to unilaterally pay the debt.

I am not the only one I know who will be instructing investment managers to sell all equities and move to cash positions if Washington doesn't get it's act together. My deadline is 3:00 p.m. EDT tomorrow. I will be sending an e-mail to sell all shares and move to cash at that time as well logging into my 401K and selling all my equities and distributing the funds across my available cash options.

When tens of thousands of Americans (and possibly those outside the U.S.) do the same thing the stock market crash will be a self-fulfilling prophesy. I am not going to let the bastards rob me of the gains I have clawed back since 2008. I will move to cash and when the dust settles I should be able to buy very cheap and ride the market back up (assuming they don't keep the government shut down and not increase the debt ceiling until they are thrown out of office in November of 2014).

1. Obama is a tyrant who unilaterally did stuff to defuse the debt-ceiling.

2a. We won't further dwell into the topic whether defaulting would have been good or bad (so not to piss any republican off and/or inform our viewers) but that Obama prevented this unilaterally, without compromise or negotiation, is clearly wrong.

2b. It's the wrong thing and Obama took it by force after he refused to negotiate with republicans over it.

2c. Republicans were all willing to raise it. He did it himself to make them look bad and the liberal media is helping him.

3. It's an unprecedented power-grab.

4. Now there is nothing left to reign in on government-spending. After the break: The slimdown continues.

He will be a hero if he keeps the country from default.

If the republicans try to impeach they will look like the bad guys they really are.

Even republicans get government aid, I am sure many are thinking about their checks not coming in.

The republicans can try to impeach but it won't go very far.

He can't run for office again.

I would do this if I was president.

I would tell republicans go ahead and impeach me.

Call their bluff.

People will be so happy to have this mess over even the regular republicans wouldn't care.

Of course the tea baggers will howl at the moon but who cares.

They do have to be exposed for the dangerous people they are.

It took one brave man in the 50's to stand up to another bully.

Most of us don't remember the make believe red scare of the 50's.

TV was just starting to come into homes.

One man had enough and said the famous lines have you no shame.

I need to look up his name, I think it was Welch.

I am sure it is on youtube.

Every group of Americans will have some bully to deal with.

My father was a union man and a strong democrat.

We can't loose this fight.
