Deal details emerging--debt ceiling through February, clean c.r. through January 15, some kind of

conference/super-committee, Obamacare income verification that supposedly won't interfere with enrollment.

Boehner-McConnell have met, House Rs beginning to realize they have some harsh medicine to take.

Sticking points include extraordinary measures for debt limit as well as what Dems get for Obamacare income verification

My guess is that if they get an actual budget resolution they'll further extend the debt ceiling.

4 months from now gets us right into the start of the 2014 election cycle.

They need to do an annual budget and move on.

I'm sick and f*cking tired of this bullshit they pull every few months. Enough for christ's sake!

But, as miserable as this has been for us, it's going to get much worse for them.

Losing side rarely benefits from this kind of showdown.

do it all over again and hand us the House.

A Senate Democratic aide tells Greg Sargent that they want the debt ceiling lifted for about 9 months -- until early summer -- with the idea being that the closer to the 2014 elections we get, the harder it will be for Republicans to stage another debt ceiling hostage crisis."

Said the aide: "The effect of this fight has been to destroy the Republican brand and put their 2014 candidates behind the eight ball. We are not trying to bait them into another fight. We'd rather put it past the election. But it's really up to them. If they want to recommit political suicide a few months before an election, that's going to be their choice. We're going to make sure that if this happens it has real consequences for them."

This was Pickett's Charge for them. If they're insane enough to revisit, it will be even easier to mow them down next time, and the rewards much greater.

to have them try to shut it down again won't they?
They have painted themselves into a situation that which ever way they turn they lose.
That is what Republican leadership is all about.

This was such an awful blunder; instead of turning the spotlight on Obamacare's opening glitches (which were bad enough to have Robert Gibbs call for firings today), most of the country was wondering what was wrong with them. Huge opportunity cost. Their unfavorables go to the heavens and Obamacare actually gains a few points. Only time will tell if they get back to basics over gimmicks, time and results of the internal bloodletting that's probably about to happen over there.

You cannot imagine Louis Gomert, Eric Cantor, or Ted Cruz learning anything in this process, can you?

But Rove and the Koch Brothers know when they get their asses kicked. So the real question is whether the real players still see the teabaggers as useful idiots or whether they now see them as a destructive force that must be swept aside.

he has said all along, "I am willing to talk about any and all ways to improve the Affordable Care Act. We know it isn't perfect."

This would give him clear evidence of it -- and after all this brouhaha for the teabaggers to get nothing but that would be devastating to them.
