Stenographer snaps and rants on microphone in House.

From time to time, I post that the true believers behind the Tea Party are not just rich white men and women. They are true believers, and as such they are answering a higher calling than your puny laws of man. They are doing God's own work. Now, anyone of any belief system who decides that mans laws must be violated is exceedingly dangerous, and the Tea Party is no different.

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2013/10/17/stenographer-snaps-rants-on-house-floor/?hpt=hp_t2

The video is at the link, but you can't hear it. So let me copy what the woman who had worked at the Congress for many years said as she took the Podium.

"Do not be deceived. God shall not be mocked. A House divided cannot stand," she said, according to a House GOP aide. After a few seconds, she was escorted out by the Sergeant-at-Arms, but an audio recording by Todd Zwillich of Public Radio International captured the rest of her rant.

"He will not be mocked, He will not be mocked, (don't touch me) He will not be mocked. The greatest deception here, is that this is not one nation under God. It never was. Had it been... it would not have been... No. it would not have been... the Constitution would not have been written by Free Masons... and go against God. You cannot serve two masters. You cannot serve two masters. Praise be to God, Lord Jesus Christ."

This is a woman who has worked for the Congress for many years, and has never had any problems according to the news report. She isn't rich, and while she is White, that is my point. These true believers are not going to stop just because we won yesterday, if you can call it a win. They're not going to admit defeat and just fall in line. They will oppose everything we are trying to do, because like the extremists who abuse the faith of Islam, these nuts think that this is a holy war, they are picked by God to do these things. They understand the importance.

Celebrate if you want, but I maintain the win yesterday was not a strategic win, but only a tactical one. The strategic battle is yet to be fought, and I don't think we're taking it seriously enough. I don't think we're taking our opponents seriously enough.

I had an OP up the other day that I think is relevant here

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023859074

I think for many it is theological. The America they know and remember is the shining city on the hill, anointed by God to lead the world till the second coming. That this vision never existed is beside the point, it is what they believe at a spiritual level. Any one or any thing that threatens that view is the work of the devil. Liberals, Obamacare, gay rights, etc. are all the handiwork of Satan. Any compromise with Satan will endanger the souls of the true believers and endanger their chance to go to heaven. That’s why it is more complicated than just Obama’s race even though that is certainly part of it. . They have no problem with an Allen West or Nicki Haley because they are operating from the same religious frame of reference.

Thu Oct 17, 2013, 09:10 AM

We were learning about them in an class on this week at work. Here's one definition (from wisegeek)

"The term amygdala hijack describes any situation in which a person responds inappropriately based on emotional rather than intellectual factors. The amygdala is the emotional center of the human brain and can create split-second responses when a person is threatened. An inappropriate emotional response to a perceived threat is thus called an amygdala hijack. The term was invented by psychologist and journalist Daniel Goleman in his 1996 science bestseller, Emotional Intelligence."

But every action isn't demonstrable proof of a psychiatric disorder. Often times people just get fed up and snap, they can't stomach or endure whatever they have been swallowing for as long as they can. Think of a couple, living together, sharing the same space. He leaves the top off the toothpaste. At first, she sighs, then she mentions it. Finally she snaps because she just can't take it anymore. A tiny pebble in your shoe is hardly noticeable at first. But eventually it becomes intolerable.

I purposely did not comment on the possible mental state other than to highlight it to show the kinds of true believers that I've been talking about for some time now.

So, my fiance and I turned it to Fox & Friends ... for shits and giggles.

Um, bad idea. I have to go to work and now I'm enraged.

They were fawning over her and asking why she's been taken into custody for expressing her religious beliefs.

The other thing they said, and I'm not a huge fan of the ACA (I'm a single-payer guy), was that the Republicans got a concession about having to verify eligibility to receive subsidies. They were incredulous, incredulous, I tell you, that this wasn't in the bill until now! Wasn't this already in the bill????

I was fucking screaming at the TV at this point.

No wonder people are so misinformed.

But I think this falls in the "proper time, proper place" file. The middle of the House floor, which also is her workplace, during a crucial vote is not it. If I jumped up on my desk and started shouting about Judaism, I would expect my manager to do something about it. However, why would anyone on Fox want to try to sensible about this?

Although I have no idea where in the Bible anything about the Freemasons is mentioned.

There is no "winning" a large segment of America. They are forever entrenched in their beliefs and you can't change their minds. I visited the Creation Museum, where it's emphasized that all the world's ills are because Eve ate of the Tree of Knowledge. In other words, God doesn't WANT us to learn or question or educate ourselves. They are happy the way they are, and everything else is not god's will.

While everyone was nice and friendly, I realize that if and when the country fractures, it will be along these lines -- and we will have a South U.S. and a North U.S. and we will be enemies.

It isn't just the South. Kansas, a Union state during the Civil War is the home base of the most outrageous of them all Fred Phelps. Wyoming was where Matthew Sheppard was murdered for being Gay. Idaho is home base to several White Supremacy Groups. While the South shares some blame, you are kidding yourself if you think that they will be isolated and quashed. I could go on and on about where these folks reside, but just know this. The Congressional Districts tell the story, a majority of the Congressmen are Republicans, so they have the seats from a majority of Congressional districts. We didn't take the House back even when we had all the advantages, and for the midterm, it will be all about turnout. These true believers are the core of the Republican Party, and they will turn out to vote in 2014.
