Video: Ted Cruz Anointed By Pro-Religious War, Antigay PastorsTea Party potentate Ted Cruz is blessed by pastors who claim the Constitution is based on the Old Testament, appear to endorse biblical slavery, depict gay marriage as a socialist plot against the traditional family, and call for a Christian war on secular society.
Rand Paul was present at the same ceremony.

In the Video section of DU I posted a longer post about how Cruz was being anointed as part of the 7 Mountains strategy. They are not going to stop at this attempt to harm the government. They are dedicated and will never give up.
Ted Cruz' father indicates Ted anointed king as part of the 7 Mountains Mandate.
More about the 7 Mountains at the link. It is creepy and scary and very real.

(28,784 posts)These people are fanatics and you can't reason with fanatics.
It's scary to see so many of them gain power, but it's like Goldwater said:
On religious issues there can be little or no compromise. There is no position on which people are so immovable as their religious beliefs. There is no more powerful ally one can claim in a debate than Jesus Christ, or God, or Allah, or whatever one calls this supreme being. But like any powerful weapon, the use of God's name on one's behalf should be used sparingly. The religious factions that are growing throughout our land are not using their religious clout with wisdom. They are trying to force government leaders into following their position 100 percent. If you disagree with these religious groups on a particular moral issue, they complain, they threaten you with a loss of money or votes or both.
I'm frankly sick and tired of the political preachers across this country telling me as a citizen that if I want to be a moral person, I must believe in "A," "B," "C" and "D." Just who do they think they are? And from where do they presume to claim the right to dictate their moral beliefs to me?
And I am even more angry as a legislator who must endure the threats of every religious group who thinks it has some God-granted right to control my vote on every roll call in the Senate. I am warning them today: I will fight them every step of the way if they try to dictate their moral convictions to all Americans in the name of "conservatism."
...Mark my word, if and when these preachers get control of the [Republican] party, and they're sure trying to do so, it's going to be a terrible damn problem. Frankly, these people frighten me. Politics and governing demand compromise. But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can't and won't compromise. I know, I've tried to deal with them.
They have taken control of the Republican Party.
They are a danger to this nation, as we just saw, because they are such extremists they think nothing of destroying the economy, or else they're too stupid to understand what they were doing. In either case, they must be stopped.

Seems to me they are in pretty good control of the party right now.

(28,784 posts)stems from growing up around just this sort of mind set. I know you know it, too.
They are deadly serious in their belief they should impose themselves on the rest of this nation.
This sort of religious practice hurts this nation and has held us back from progress on social issues for decades... actually, for centuries.
They're not going to go away, so the rat fuckers in the Republican Party need to get to work on their own party to discredit and get rid of these dangerous politicians.

(28,784 posts)is to use the typical Rove political dirty tricks against them.
The Republicans have a dilemma now. The b.s. the "ruling class" used for years to get votes and to get people to work for their elections is now coming back to bite them in the form of populism from the right - grounded in this sort of religion.
If the Tea Party goes its own way, the Republican Party loses. If the Tea Party stays, we all lose.
Sadly, I'm pretty sure Republicans are more concerned about their own personal/political power, more than they care about this nation.
So, we're in a dangerous time.
What I see in this is the merger of corporate and religious power - which is why I see this as a form of fascism. The Koch's etc. are going to continue to fund this movement, along with other groups.
The problem in this nation, imo, is that the political class and the billionaire class are going to have to accept that we need higher taxes on the wealthy - not FDR levels - but levels that can be put to use to help people get out from under the continuing problems with the financial crisis. We need a higher minimum wage. We need investments into infrastructure programs. I don't know if the p-b's can do this, but it's clear to me that this group of extremists would not have the power they do if people were more secure in their present and future related to wages.
Populism takes hold when people have economic problems and an unresponsive govt. From either left or right - this is the basis.
The solution isn't pleasant to the captains of industry, but if they care about this nation, not just their profits, they'll do the right thing.

Muthee said the US is a 'devil nation'? But I thought a comment like that made Prez O's association with Rev Wright so problematic to repugs. African foreign national Muthee is so revered by repug christians? But those same traits are lyingly projected onto Palin's Democratic opponent as the reason why America should fear and hate our candidate. Palin has to be protected against the evils of witchcraft? But the repugs ran a witch candidate to try to take over v.p. Biden's Senate seat.
Their beliefs are as inconsistent as they are insane. They'll say anything, anytime, to win, even if it directly contradicts something else they've just said. They only have one immutable value -- to win power to serve their rich evil masters.
Thanks for the vid.

(12,647 posts)It appears the Republican establishment is finally showing remorse for wooing the religious fanatics, and I couldn't be more tickled to see Cruz at the forefront of their sudden scorn. Wall Street's pucker factor had to go to zero when Cruz's father preached about a transfer of wealth. LOL I guess Christofascists and Corprofascists are a terrible mix in the grander scheme of things. They both want the same power and watching them wrestle over that control, to the detriment of the Republican party, has been quite entertaining. It's time to put the zealots back in the bottle because they're scaring the bejeezus out of normal voters. I read just yesterday that the Republican party in Virginia has collapsed. In freaking Virginia.
My Sarah videos had as many viewers as all of my other videos, combined. The one I did on her support for the aerial hunting of wolves brought over a quarter million hits, and the video is still getting comments, to this day. I like to think that particular piece had a small impact on the 2008 election...a lot of people were repulsed by her after seeing it.
Thank you for the kind words and I agree with your assessment. Their hypocrisy is becoming more obvious to people who don't usually pay a lot of attention to politics.

(9,114 posts)And I believe your film did make a difference for '08. It doesn't just reveal to the mainstream voter something they're trying to target only for their partisan zealot market, it is also artfully executed. Shocking message, packaged with a compelling medium.
I hope they can't sell the doublethink to reconcile their teacorpofascists with their fundychristofascists, and that they fail to tikkun the zealots.

(9,114 posts)for excessively repetitive and gratuitous overuse of the word 'Father' in a half minute 'prayer'.
He's praying to god like god is a dog with ADHD, like the deity constantly has to have attention recalled and refocused on listening to the request. Or it's like the pastor constantly needs to reassure himself and the participants that God really is their father (raising the issue of what the results of actual paternity test on this movement would reveal -- they're bastards in more ways than one). Or the pastor doesn't really know that many words and is using 'father' as filler to boost his prayer's word count. He uses the word like other poor speakers use 'um' or 'uh'.
Putting petty stylistic critique aside, thanks for the o post on the subject, Mad. Political theology is an important and interesting subject. Fascism comes to America wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross.

(9,114 posts)Some of them believe this stuff, some of them are laughing up their sleeves, the video isn't pushed for release to the general voters, but it is made readily available in selective channels to get the maximum effect on the believers. Trying to turn Jesus into a force for corporatism + reaction, then worshipping that. Anti-Christ ian.
They're trying to use christianity as a booster rocket for fascism, a booster that gets discarded sub-orbit. Like chief nazi party ideologist Alfred Rosenberg did to Protestant leaders like pastor Niemoller. Start with 'the Jews killed Jesus', then when they've taken the christian religious ideology for as much of a ride toward nazi ideals as possible, switching over to say 'jesus was a jewish pig', and eliminate any christian adherents who won't switch over from the cross to the crooked cross, from the bible to the reich bible.
