I was hoping that the last few weeks had finally shifted attention in Washington to the economy, finances, business and the welfare of the American people.
But early in his speech, Obama emphasized the US' role as the "indispensable nation" and emphasized the damage the that impending default had done to the US' standing in the world. Enough of this sole superpower idiocy already.
BTW -- someone needs to tell him to look at the camera. During his lecture, his head kept swiveling back and forth like he was watching a tennis match.

(14,400 posts)I mean why oh why didn't he call you before getting in front of the cameras.

I don't recall a wide shot of the room, but he was probably looking at teleprompters.

(86,743 posts)a couple different sites online and he looked at the cameras broadcasting what I was watching but they also toggled back and forth between several camera positions. Maybe the one you were watching was one he didn't look directly at. And he was addressing a live audience which requires that you look about at THEM.
Sounds like you just have a bug in some uncomfortable spot whenever Obama comes to mind for you. What's up with that?

(86,743 posts)two poorly placed cameras from Wall Street hacks...
You do see the irony there, right? I watched on CSPAN and they had at least two cameras, showed the audience several times and the President looked right into the cameras a couple of times while actively engaging his live audience in the room.
I think you're just trolling because he was correct and "called out " his detractors - you apparently being one of them - and did so with finesse and accuracy. It was more a lesson from Government 101 for those who need to learn it since their dumbed down schools don't teach that anymore.
Get over it, Mr Sour Grapes.

I guess we'll be getting a lot of this the next few days as the meltdowns from Failed Coup 2013 happen.

(15,805 posts)In just one example; the global economy is linked to the stability of the US fiscal policy and our standing falters if we cannot maintain that gravitas and dependability. If that doesn't meet the definition of "indispensable nation", what does???

It's like a family thing: My Son is The Best, it's expected of a parent to be proud of their children. You are suggesting that that parent point out the kid's flaws rather than his/her good qualities?
meh.
