I am not happy with the Tea Party poll numbers

30% of the public approve of the TP.

Think about that, almost a third still do.

Congress has an approval rating of around 10%, 60% - 70% disapproved of the shutdown with most blaming the GOP.

Do they not understand the the Tea Party idiots were behind it all and drove the stalemate for two weeks.

Between gerrymandering and voter suppression, more Americans have to come to grips with what these assholes really are for us to take bake the House.

And it's such a long way to go before next November for our ADD public.

"the public" is not separate from the political parties. About 30% of the public is the Tea Party.

(though I am obviously wrong) that many of the people who thought the Tea Party was a good idea would realize how harmful and at times insane they are. I would be more comfortable if it was 20% to 25% after this debacle.

But i guess there are still a lot of Fox viewers.

Unfortunately 30% of the public are idiots that watch Fux News. They wouldn't approve of Congress unless they hired a hit man to go after the President and/or found a way to turn the US into a White Supremacist Theocracy.

70% of our citizenry seems to be relatively normal.

even as the W admin wore down and the depression came etc, they had a 27% approval. I think Cheney may have been a bit lower, but the 27 - 30% range sticks in my mind as the solid base they have.
Think of the south and the mountain west (Ga, La, Ms,AL, TX, Co, Ut, Wy, Id) and you can probably understand where those numbers come from

Simply asking anyone anything with the word "Congress" in it these days is sure to evoke a very negative reaction.

What is it like to have a below average IQ? Is it like walking around stoned all the time? It seems so strange sometimes when people just cant wrap their heads around things that seem fairly clear cut. I am a fairly bright guy and life gets pretty complicated at times I often wonder how some of these folks make it.

The internecine war between corporatist GOP and tea party GOP is in full view. Big business is now opening its war chest to spend these guys into oblivion.

There are GOP leaders referring to some of their own as Taliban. Yes, the numbers will continue to fall.

No really.

http://www.gallup.com/poll/3742/new-poll-gauges-americans-general-knowledge-levels.aspx

What to take from this? Well, either there are a lot of really dumb/ignorant people out there or there is an "error factor" in most polls of about 20% that results in seemingly nonsensical answers being chosen.

While I'd prefer the latter, it's probably a combination of both.

look at these charts. The unfavorable has been climbing steadily for two years, and favorable just tanked.

Seems to me Democratic support has to be among people influenced by the media or who deluded themselves into believing the hype.

political awareness in this country is at an all time low. The press doesn't inform the public, and big money distorts the truth. While i'd like everyone to know who the tea party is and what they do, i'm more concerned that the casual voter know the tea party is the Republicans since that's what will show up on the ballot. So, do we try to educate the public about the dangers of the tea party, or do we just make sure that every time the tea party tries to ruin this country we talk about the dangers of the Republicans?
