The Debt?

Last edited Fri Oct 18, 2013, 06:45 PM - Edit history (1)

Obama's debt?

We can give Bush the first deficit of $1.2 trillion dollars in 2009. Also, we can give him the cost of the two wars - at present about $200 billion per year - that would be another $1 trillion. Add in the Bush depression and cost of unemployment and the slowdown in revenues coming into the country. That's another trillion! Then add in the Bush taxcuts and you get another $3 trillion dollars.

Hey! That's the entire debt!

If not for the Bush depression, the Bush taxcuts, and the Bush wars, we would be real close to a balanced budget right now.

Can you prove my numbers wrong??

But what they fail to mention is that the reason it shot up the first year of Mr. Obama's Presidency is because most of the stuff mentioned in the OP was NEVER included in the debt under W. President Obama just actually included these bills with the debt for the first time, that's why the debt soared.

I called out my bagger neighbor last year during the election on this and she said she would have to check her news for those facts and get back with me. I haven't heard back yet.

But basically your numbers are about right.

2. I think it is fair to say that most of the debt under Obama was caused by Bush's policies.

The TARP bailout and the first deficit of Obama was 1.2 trillion. The cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan were not the responsibility of Barack Obama. It could be argued that Obama could have let the Obama taxcuts expire, I suppose, and that would have cut the debt about $4 trillion dollars plus. However, Obama did not cause the Bush depression and the huge cost on our economy. The huge majority of this $17 trillion dollar debt was caused by the Republican Party. And that's the way it is...
