(2,962 posts)Gene, consoling Cleavon.....What did you expect? "Welcome, sonny"? "Make yourself at home"? "Marry my daughter"? You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know... morons.

(306 posts)Democrats are not "American People". When Newt came out with "I promised the American People" in
1994 he never promised me anything. It nauseates me to hear these Republicans talk about the
"American People" because they are referring to themselves.

sentiment about the "American People".

Saturday's are great! College football!!!
I would like to send this thread to Rachel Maddow.
She would call out the "American People for us.
Thanks Cha

(81,308 posts)They're already a minority party. And steadily declining. Thank Heaven!
Encouraging thread about the trend in Virginia. Polls showing GOP support dwindling so seriously that it's described as "collapsed" in Virginia as that gubernatorial election draws near. Well, counting California, that's two states. Hoping that's a trend that catches on!!!

(812 posts)AKA Lyndon B Johnson, the moniker was the Kennedy's secret name for him behind his back.
That graphic speaks to the pessimism of a corrupt politician who brought himself up from a poor texas dirt farmer when the dead and infants went to the polls to vote for him.
Johnson had lots of experience exploiting people, namely the poor immigrants in Los Colonias.
Before i get you thinking that the man was an irredeemable reprobate, while he exploited their parents, after he worked out in the brutal Texas sun all day,he held classes at night teaching the people of Los Colonias to read and write.
There are many parallels in character that can be drawn between Johnson and say Jesse Helms and Strom Thurmond but what set Johnson apart from his racist brotherhood is that he worked to advance the good of all Americans,Thurmond and Helms worked to advance only Conservative values.
They ministers of hatred seem to have succeeded.

Cha
(297,296 posts)I've read it and know they're robotically using their Frank Luntz/George Orwell framing in hopes no one notices they're speaking for No One except their creepy selves and those pulling the strings. In boner's case it's how he can hang on to his Weeper's job while herding a bunch of teabagger klanners.
you don't get to go around and say you are speaking for your party either...
Ask Boehner and McConnell how they feel about the moron Cruz.
Oh, wait, sorry, any Republican can speak for that party, and they do, and contradict each other all the time..
but you can't speak for all Americans.
Cha
(297,296 posts)they Frame it so those who don't know better think these sociopathic leaders of the republicons, who are cowering to the teakochs, are actually speaking for America.
It's mind bogglingly Warped and I'm so glad this Graphic was made to show why they Don't Get To Do That. Viral It!

(10,751 posts)...Republicans don't get to say they speak for the American people when the American people just spoke loud and clear by re-electing the President with a 5 million vote margin, while at the same time sending more Democrats to both the Senate and the House.

If democracy ever breaks out in this country, they're kaput!
And as for Obama, their hatred is all about race. I have family
that lives in the Faux-Evangelical Bubble. They won't admit it's
about race but it is. They HORRIFIED that OBAMA is giving
Obamacare to blacks! And they're not well off, they're just
being used for their support at the voting booth.
