The 113th Congress: Procrastination Without Penialization.

Satire - by Jesse Hendrix

It came down to the last possible second but Congress has come to its senses and done their jobs. The shutdown is over (for now) and default has been avoided (until February). Now the two sides can talk seriously about the budget like sensible adults. They won't, not if Ted “No hugging, no learning” Cruz has anything to say about it. But they could. Like any bipartisan deal, the Let's Not Destroy the Economy Just Yet Act signed by the president involves lots of little compromises, and for some reason a giant dam. Here are a few of its lesser known provisions.

President Obama promises not to do the “I told you so” dance.

Republicans can keep making up scary Obamacare stories to raise money.

Twinkies now available in house cafeteria.

Senate rules new statute, that no one is allowed to disabuse Ted Cruz of the notion that he accomplished something.

you brought over from FB by Jesse Hendrix.. and then he got on your thread and we all welcomed him. good times!

Funny stuff from Jesse! lol

Oooops, I think Pres Obama already "derespected" them by giving his Speech before their vote.. at least they were whining about it.

One thing.. I keep seeing references like this.. and it flies in the face of something I read in the Budget Deal from Joan McCarter on dkos..

"..The shutdown is over (for now) and default has been avoided (until February)." Jesse Hendrix

"An increase in the debt ceiling until Feb. 7, but it also continues the ability of the Treasury to use extraordinary measures to extend that period, so that's not a drop dead date. It also includes language allowing President Obama to waive the debt ceiling, which could be overridden by a vote of disapproval by Congress that could then be vetoed by the president;"

HOPE it's TRUE! It's one of those things that isn't getting a lot of play that's for sure!

Mahalo for the thread, she~

He's got this Cha!

What a ship of fools the GOP have become. They care more about their speaker-ship and their jobs than they care about the American people. They are being led by the nose by the baggers. Gawd knows they want us to fail.

I like what I read from Jesse. Spot on.

Thanks Cha!

I've managed my studio.. that's one reason why I wanted a small place.. but, as far as going out and getting stuff that I actually need if took me away from DU for too long...fuggedaboubit.

But there's a time and season for everything. My dogs don't care as long as I make time for them, and they are my life, but when you can't find things you know you already bought last week or even yesterday, things are getting out of hand. I guzzle coffee all the time and always require a fresh ice-tea spoon for the ritual, so I have to wash dishes when I run out of those. When I have no more clean coffee cups, that's an emergency! I hardly remember where I left my trampoline....

the Senate Bill!

"Surprises tucked in Senate Bill"l

It's just not many are aware of it and I'm feeling like a voice in wilderness here.

I sent it to my son last night because he emailed me and said.."whew glad that's over and we'll have to got through it all again in Feb."

So here's to us NOT having to go through it ever AGAIN!

And if not for voices crying in the wilderness, I'd never find out half what I need to know.

In an effort to curb my internet use, which can go overboard during special times of stress or celebration, I've been trying to convince myself that one of the drivers is not just noble thirst for knowledge, but a far darker one: the fantasy that if I keep going until my fingers fall off, eventually I'll Know Everything. So to beat that little ego demon back where it belongs, I'm going to try to restrict myself to a couple hours daily.

My efforts at personal improvement, of course, make DU and especially the BOG even more critical than ever. During the last few months of campaign season, though, I'll give myself an extra hour if I can haul out of bed early enough to start the day. It will be a grand timesaver when/if we actually get to 'follow' particular people on DU, the ones we like best and trust most.

I have an idea Washington is going to keep us even more highly entertained than usual. I fell asleep last night thinking about that almost inscrutable "No" look on President Obama's face. Or it might be called his "Checkmate!" expression. Either way it's good because it keeps me from having GOP/TP nightmares. The rightwingers might check under their beds for communists every night; me, I look to be sure there are no Republicans.

"No".. that really goes well with the quote of Hidden Surprises in the Senate Bill!

When I first got on DU back in 2002.. I couldn't type very well but after spending 10 hours a day sometimes right here I got to be fast. Something I never learned in my high school typing class.

Then along came Obama which has kept me hooked on politics even more.. but, politics is everything now. The Air, water, food.. our lifelines. So yeah I feel like I'm not wasting my time at all. Au Contraire!

The cat that ate the canary!

Sorry if I don't always get back to you. I work full time and stay up way to late posting on DU. Some nights I come home far to tired to do more than read DU and K&R a thread. Yes, I too fall behind on a lot of my chores.

C'est la vie~

Hugs Irish.
