So I'm glad the cards are in the series and I am hoping for Boston to play them. The last 2 games are in Fenway with the Sox leading 3 games to 2 so it looks good.

How can anybody on a partisan Democratic forum hate anything about Detroit, except for the fact that the city has been raped and shoveled off into ignominy.

The Detroit Tigers may not get World Series Rings in 2013. But the city deserves it. And needs it.

Just like in 1968 when a year after racial rioting which set the city on fire and had LBJ sending out the National Guard, Detroit was dancing in the street.

Detroit has an awesome team. May the best team win. But Detroit really needs this one. Too damned bad that Briggs/Tiger Stadium is gone. Not enough expensive sky boxes apparently. Assholes. Baseball is for people, not for the rich. At least the Red Sox understand that and have preserved their heritage ballpark.

Thank you for the post, my friend. But I have no choice but to rout for my home team, the Detroit Tigers.

It goes back to when I was a small boy. I won 2 tickets to a Whitesox-Tigers game. We had just moved to the Chicago area the year before and I had never been to a major league game. I had become a huge Whitesox and baseball fan. I so so excited I couldn't sleep the night before. And then the Sox blew the double-header to the Tigers. I was crushed! But anyway, baseball is trivial compared to the real human tragedy that is going on for the people of Detroit now. And I doubt that many of the residents of the city will get much out of a Tigers victory. Who can afford the games but affluent suburbans? So I wish Detroit well; the Tigers, not so much.

It allows people who aren't actually there to watch the event live. It's pretty handy when the fan base is in the millions, but the stadium only holds tens of thousands. It's also really nice for away games. With the ALCS being on Fox, anyone with access to a television can watch it.

I'm rooting for the Tigers because Detroit could use some happy time. I'll root for the Cards in the World Series, but if they lose to the Tigers (if they get there), I'll be happy for Detroit.

1) The city needs this boost
2) I like the path from home plate to the pitcher's mound. (silly reason)

Prince Fielder has seven years left on a nine year contract? I don't keep up with the AL much and I'm not familiar with the guy but that looks worse than Dan Uggla's contract. Dude looks ready for retirement right now.

I was pulling for them but the way they played tonight, they didn't deserve to advance.

When Detroit really needed it and the Cardinals had Bob Gibson and Detroit had Mickey Lolich.

Gibson set a record for 17 strikeouts in a World Series game, but the Tigers won the series due to tenacity, and Lolich's ability to hide his grip behind his beer belly.

One never knows what will happen in baseball. But Detroit needs it this year, more than ever.

Go Tigers!

Not that the Red Sox or Detroit are small budget teams, but at least they seem to budget wisely.

Wife is a diehard Cardinals fan, you can imagine what it was like in my household the last week, wife is still doing a victory dance, much to my chagrin.

He rag arms one, allowing a runner to advance and throws the next one to the backstop.

He reminds me of Andruw Jones. Talented, but kind of a jackass.
