Should we be concerned about how the Affordable Care Act is being received?

Let me preface my remarks by saying that this might be my first "concern troll' thread since I began posting here over a decade ago. I'm usually pretty bullish on Democratic party prospects. For instance I never doubted President Obama would be re-elected. However I'm concerned about how the Affordable Care Act is being received. The prospects of the Democratic party are inextricably linked to its success...

It seems different than Medicare or Medicaid where people were getting a new benefit and didn't have to do much to receive it.

I don't know...

and not just when it comes to countering all the dubious anecdotes about rates insurance rates rising through the roof. There must be more effort to get young people signed up, which is a cornerstone of ACA funding.

It's a big fucking deal! But there's one thing to remember--at least Democrats are trying to solve a problem and relieve hardship. Where are people to turn if they don't like the ACA--Republicans? They support bake sales and charity to pay medical bills. They don't give a shit about the uninsured, and never have, and never will.

A lot of countries have a private insurance system with a individual mandate.

Then, they gripe about other people "who don't deserve it."

I do agree that it is important to counter unfounded criticism of ACA.
