Dan Rather: Limbaugh might cost GOP the election

http://campaign2012.washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/beltway-confidential/dan-rather-limbaugh-might-cost-gop-election/410471

March 5, 2012 1:49pm

HDnet's Dan Rather thinks that Rush Limbaugh's controversial comments will hurt Republicans in November, perhaps even costing them the presidency.

When asked about Romney's response to Limbaugh's comments on CNN, Rather said that he belived Romney 'made a mistake' by not disavowing the conservative commentator.

"This is the kind of thing that any decent person, any person aspiring to the presidency should be able to deal with straight forwardly saying, 'no, this is not right.'" Rather said.

I respect Dan Rather, but the GOP imploded LONG before the Rush incident.

More like Rush ENSURED a Democratic landslide.

Rush Limbaugh is not going to cost the republicans the presidency. Their own policies and crappy candidates already did that some time ago.

However he might cost them a few congressional seats which could prove critical in a closely divided congress. He might also be influential in assuring that the Senate will remain in Democratic hands for at least the next two years.

Having said that, if the slack jawed yokels are looking for a scapegoat, then by all means let them look no further than the fat ass druggie. Karma's a bitch these days.

that, and possibly the drug-addled fart being marginalized enough that so that he simply isn't heard by so many people anymore. Either or both would be a magnificent outcome.

There are many things to be pointed to, Santorum shooting himself in the foot many timed, Gingrich has been a distraction for many years and is only selling books. Ron Paul has policies I do not wrap my mind around, claims to be a constitionist but wants to drop some of the articles. Romney has his good and bad points. The biggest thing to swing my vote is Obama has gone far with what he has had to work with, got bin Laden and others, good job Mr President, we need you.

im with you... want to grab the popcorn, and stock up the skyrockets for November... but please lets mot celebrate too early... a week can be an eternity in presidential race, and a lot of stuff can happen.. crises, real and manufactured can change whole outcome.. we do have the better candidate, and will have a better platform..

the bad news is that Republicans have been fairly succesfull with voter suppression laws... we still have unrelieable voting machines, and above all, the effects of unlimited funds available to the Republicans with Citizens United.. we can't be complacent

im sure its not news to any, that Republicans cant win on a level playing feild, but thats why they cheat!!!

That they have taken on Planned Parenthood, contraception, the Blount Amendment, and choice in the last two months speaks to an intentional strategy. They can't be that sincere about contraception. They can't be that stupid to blunder into the bad attention.

They are taking this on for a reason...distraction from the improving economy, distraction away from awful candidates. Or just a modified Southern Strategy where they will calculate the loss of women voters, many of whom would vote for Obama anyway, in exchange for temporary influx of money and volunteers. Rush taking one for the team?

Don't know...they've always been good at campaigning and bad at governing. How does this work for them?

Everybody knows he's the mouthpiece for the GOP. EVERYBODY. Their policies were bad enough, but it just takes one incident to be the tipping point, where people say, damn, these people SUCK!

Limpballs could be it.

The base being so fucking nutty that the candidates are afraid to contradict something even this bad for fear of losing the primary is going to cost them the general.

What I hope Limbaugh being himself cost is his ability to spew hate over public airwaves.
