This is a letter that was faxed to Boehner, from Bruce Lindner of Portland, Oregon. I searched to see if it had already been posted~
Dear Speaker Boehner;
Over the past few weeks, I wonder how much you've considered current events through the lens of history. Presently, you're the piggy in the middle. You obviously want to do what's best for the country, but you're torn between what you know to be the right thing to do, and the white-hot pressure you're getting from the Tea Party wing of the GOP. I don't envy you! But this much is true; no matter what you do, the Tea Party is going to hate you.
Even today, as you're bending over backwards to appease them, they call you a "RINO" to your face. And in all likelihood, your tenure as Speaker will be crippled by this event no matter how it plays out.

It's time to do what's best for the country, not what's best for the Tea Party, and certainly not what you think is best for John Boehner. On your present course, you'll take the blame for whatever economic damage comes of this Republican shutdown, because you were too weak to stand up to the likes of the sociopathic Ted Cruz. And if you were to buck the Tea Party...? They couldn't hate you more than they already do, and alongside Barack Obama's name in the history books will be your name, or at least an asterisk... noting that YOU were the man who finally stood up to the early 21st Century wave of neo-fascists who tried to deny what the nation has been crying out for for almost a century; healthcare for all, and a system designed to benefit the patient, rather than the insurance industry.
The choice Mr. Speaker, is yours. And our history, your own history, and your party's history are in your hands.
Bring it to the House floor for a vote, and let's move on. And if the rabid banshees in your party threaten to toss you out? Let them. And if they're successful, so what? In 100 years, you'll be remembered as the man who stood up to political blackmail, while they'll be remembered as the caucus of hate and ignorance; an anti-democratic spasm that destroyed itself soon thereafter. Where would you prefer that asterisk be Mr. Speaker? Under the president's place in history, or the Tea Party's?
