Roger Ailes was right about one thing (re the fainting woman story)

Sure, he's to be reviled for screwing up America forever via Fox News Channel, but he was definitely right about infotainment in political news media:

Let's face it, there are three things that the media are interested in: pictures, mistakes and attacks. That's the one sure way of getting coverage. You try to avoid as many mistakes as you can. You try to give them as many pictures as you can. And if you need coverage, you attack, and you will get coverage.

It's my orchestra pit theory of politics. You have two guys on stage and one guy says, "I have a solution to the Middle East problem," and the other guy falls in the orchestra pit, who do you think is going to be on the evening news.

Today: The president said he had a solution to the HealthCare.gov website issues. Someone faints on stage. Guess who got more coverage?

I wonder how many times ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FNC, and MSNBC reran the fainting woman all day today. And even "serious" publications like Politico or guys like Cenk Uygur are making a big deal out of it.

discussed about Type I diabetes, which the woman has. She had a pump and that's getting coverage as well. Maybe a little good came out of it.

against Obamacare will EVER cease? Those who are against it are equally against Medicare and Social Security. The political spin against each of those has not ceased for decades.

Good luck with that!

11. By the way, I think "the individual mandate" is the road to single-payer.

Because I think the (Dem) federal gov't has to intervene, on that, and provide further assurances, all paving the way. Of course, Obama's idea requires a solid Dem majority for at least a decade after '16, so the "intervention" isn't savage Rep. destruction -- which the Rep's have proven they will deliver.

One thing.. the "good catch" PBO made while talking about ACA.. could turn out to be a good not so subliminal message about Obamacare!

15. You appear to be saying Politico is more 'serious' than ABC, CBS etc.

You give Politico far too much credit. There's a reason Charles Pierce has christened it 'Tiger Beat on the Potomac' and has a recurring column 'Things In Politico That Make Me Want To Guzzle Antifreeze'.
