Reid: "I was dealing with illogical and irrational people. I was damned scared."

With the sense that he had his full caucus' backing, Boehner put together a final offer that funded the government and lifted the debt ceiling, while ending the federal health care contributions for members of Congress and delaying Obamacare's medical device tax.

It was another bit of defiance against Obama's demand that reform of his health care law was off the table, and despair began to set in at both Reid's office and the White House. One senior administration official said concerns heightened that Tuesday that the country would default. Reid shared the fear.

"Oh, yeah," he said when asked if there were moments he thought the country would hit the debt limit. "Oh, yes. Absolutely, absolutely. People were giving speeches that it wouldn't hurt anything. Of course there was worry. I was trying to be logical and rational dealing with illogical and irrational people. I was damned scared."

It would be great if we could get a President who didn't need to learn along the way. But real life is lived by learning along the way. No one stops learning until someone else writes their eulogy.

The President and Reid (who also raises concerns about caving) did good.

I'm so proud of our Dem Leadership.

Senator Reid and President Obama and most of the Dems actually care what happens to our country. The teadbagger gang couldn't care less.. so they have nothing to fear. Are sociopaths even capable of emotions?

To go up there and have to hold back the forces of death, is not a game. Lives are at stake.

Obama and Reid know that. So does the GOP, we should not be kidding ourselves. We see what side favors life.

The Cruz video about transferring wealth from others into their hands...

Anyone who read that Biblical passage knows they're reciting a chapter on genocide. And the GOP knows it, too.

There is a difference in the two parties, if people think a moment and not buy into the lies repeated by conservatives. If they do they are part of the problem.

These are perilous times, as the GOP's determined to destroy the USA to bring about 'you know what' and depopulate this country. Obama is a believer in the USA and the human race.

But not everyone is. I pray that those of us who want to live, and want our loved ones to live, will do the right thing.

And remember, Obama can't do it all by himself.

life and death with evil threatening our very existence. I am so grateful that we have such brave, intelligent leaders fighting for us against the Strangelovian Koch Monsters. Mere words can't describe their malevolence but, we give it a try, anyway.

That's why I was so stressed.. because I do understand how sociopathic narcissistic they are and that they would drop a metaphorical bomb on the US without a twinge of conscience.

Frank Schaffer gets it.. and to think, he use to be one of those rw evangelicals.. but, who like some people in the course of their lives have an epiphany.. and, say.. "wait a minute.. what was I thinking?! And, find their true path.

It gave me great emoticon comfort to light those candles while the ShutDown and potential Debt Crisis were going on and I see no reason to stop.

to our Dems who held the line with our President, fresh~

I want to see alternative policies to the Reps. This "bipartisan" shit which seems to mean only that D's do/don't completely cave to R's, on the R's terms, has to stop.

It's the Democrats who have policies. The ACA is policy. Repubs have NO alternative to that, except go to the ER or die early. Their position on everything is NO, NO, with no understanding of what the underlying problem is or complete disregard of the problem.

Accordingly, I think you are mistaken in believing that Democrats need to come up with alternative policies.

Wouldn't it be ironic if healthcare.gov is still a mess and they have a deal to postpone the individual mandate? Or what happens if the Rs pass the same CR with a delay in the mandate and the Ds insist we keep it even if the site is a basket case?

Lots riding on a functioning Federal exchange site.
