Man runs marathon, knits scarf and breaks world record at same time

Man runs marathon, knits scarf and breaks world record at same time
By Jimmy Nsubuga Sunday 20 Oct 2013 6:52 pm

Running a marathon is hard enough without having to knit a record-breaking scarf at the same time like one man did in Kansas.

David Babcock thought it would be a good idea to combine the two totally different hobbies and at the same time set a new Guinness World Record.

‘It took a long time to do distance running. It takes a long time to do knitting,’ he told KCTV.

‘I thought these could go together. They are both kind of tedious. I thought it would be a fun challenge.’

The 41-year-old managed to achieve his goal after knitting a scarf that was 12ft 13.4in long while running the Kansas City Marathon in a time of five hours and 48 minutes.

Honestly, though I can read or watch TV while I'm knitting but there's no way I could do it while walking, let alone running.

Those are huge needles. If he wants to make it easier on himself, he needs to discover circs.

Twelve feet, thirteen point 4 inches? Really?

They couldn't convert that last foot?

Sheesh.

Anyway, what he's left with is a 5 and a half foot scarf and 7' 6.4" of nasty, dirty, dragged on the ground knitted mess.

I'll give the runner an A for effort.

The writer of the piece gets a fish slap.
