They're seriously deluding themselves.
Younger Republicans aren't as racist and bigoted as the last Bewsh-votin' crew was. They (and the more moderate Lincoln Chaffee Republicans) likely also see a lot wrong with their steadfast refusal to do something about the debt that requires common sense. Plain and simple, it will not be solved unless the U.S. addiction to militarism is kicked and taxation is brought back to Clinton levels (something the modern GOP will never agree to do).
Nooooooo, it's just far easier to move Koch territory and go to the 700 Club on Sundays.
