A Lincoln motorist whose speed was clocked at 124 mph early Tuesday also was arrested for driving drunk.

Bret E. Marschman, 27, was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, having an open alcohol container, no valid vehicle registration and speeding, said Deb Collins, a spokeswoman for the Nebraska State Patrol.

A trooper clocked a 2007 Cadillac traveling at 124 mph in a 65 mph zone on Interstate 80 near a Lincoln interchange. The trooper pulled over the eastbound Cadillac about 1 a.m., then noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car, Collins said.

Marschman was taken to the Lancaster County jail, where he also is being held on an arrest warrant for failure to appear in court for a separate incident. Collins said Marschman has a previous conviction for driving while intoxicated.

Let's not confuse skill and luck... regardless that it may lessen our biased criticisms of other drivers.

My speedometer goes up to 180. I don't take that as a challenge.

Do you realize how much skill it takes to control this automobile at 120 MPH after drinking 12 beers?
