Hopefully, the scope of this investigation includes the election rigging.

The Other Shoe Drops for Scott Walker. Another John Doe Probe Revealed and It's Statewide!

Is THIS why the Milwaukee John Doe Probe closed with a whimper?

A former top-level assistant U.S. attorney has been appointed a special prosecutor in a burgeoning, secret investigation into a wide variety of state issues, including possible campaign violations during the recent recall elections, multiple sources said.

Francis Schmitz — who spent nearly 30 years as a federal prosecutor and was once a finalist for U.S. attorney in Milwaukee — is leading the widespread John Doe probe, according to sources.

Overseeing the case is Kenosha County Circuit Judge Barbara A. Kluka, who has been used by Milwaukee County judicial officials in past John Doe cases.

This is the type of news that normally dumps out late on Friday, but here it is first thing on Monday. Better yet, this probe was going on BEFORE the Milwaukee County John Doe Probe closed after the conviction of Kelly Reindfleisch, the former top aide to County Executive Scott Walker and 6th associate of his to be charged and convicted.

Bruce Landsgraf handled most of the Milwaukee County John Doe cases and ended the case against Reindfleisch with recitation of a litany of wrongdoings in the Milwaukee County Executives office. That long list led many of us to suspect additional charges and more revelations in the near future ....

2. Unfortunately, if the prosecutor is a cancervative, we can't be assured of no conflicts of interest.

And, if he's progressive, there'll be charges of partisanship from the other side.

Sigh.

It's time for partisans to put the law and the good of the people before partisanship and/or religious nonsense. (Of course I'm talking about repigs, and not claiming equivalence.)

I kind of get what's going on here but perhaps one of you all who is much more knowledgable could give a synopsis of what is alleged, what has happened so far, and how this new speculation fits in with it all. I for one would appreciate it.

Now we know that there was a new investigation started as the other only apparently ended.

Prosecutor closes John Doe investigation into former Scott Walker aides

A criminal investigation that ensnared six former aides and associates of Gov. Scott Walker has ended, the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office announced Friday, lifting a shadow that had hung over the Republican for nearly three years.

The closure of the investigation comes as good news for Walker's political future, observers said Friday. He's expected to seek re-election in 2014 and is mentioned as a potential GOP presidential contender in 2016.

District Attorney John Chisholm said the secret John Doe probe failed to uncover sufficient evidence of additional wrongdoing beyond the six people charged, including three former Milwaukee County employees who worked for Walker when he was Milwaukee County executive.

"After a review of the John Doe evidence, I am satisfied that all charges that are supported by proof beyond a reasonable doubt have now been brought and concluded," Chisholm, a Democrat, said in a statement.

Judge Neal Nettesheim closed the investigation Feb. 21.

The investigation, which uncovered illegal campaign contributions to Walker's campaign, illegal campaign activity by his taxpayer-funded staffers, embezzlement of veterans' funds and other misdeeds, had dogged Walker since even before he was elected governor in November 2010. Walker consistently insisted that he was not a target of the probe ........

The fair Governor thought all of the investigations were over with and only his minions had been captured. But as it turns out there was another investigation going on that he did not know about until last Friday and that one is also investigating massive wrongdoing at his former workplace. So in fact he is not out of the woods yet and in fact its more likely now than ever that he might yet see the gavel fall.

away I'm so glad that didn't happen. The swing in numbers for Walker's recall was suspect. A huge turnaround in a very, very short period of time.
