I wonder what it is like to 'shoot yourself in the foot' (Republicans shutdown government)

I wonder how Republicans feel now that they have 'shot themselves in the foot' over the government shutdown. Their government should be smaller and doesn't have control of anything agenda doesn't seem to be working? Must be embarrassing for them?
