CNBC Reporter Asks for ‘Mexican Music’ to Go With Ted Cruz Story

There was a brief moment of awkwardness on CNBC Tuesday morning when, during a discussion of the weak jobs report and Senator Ted Cruz, reporter Steve Liesman asked for some “Mexican music” to be played while they talked about Cruz.

Liesman said, “We’re going to call this the Senator Ted Cruz jobs report. These are the jobless claims of Senator Ted Cruz.”

When a picture of Cruz appeared on the screen, he continued, “Can we get some music to go along with that? Some Mexican music, maybe?”

There was also some music briefly playing for a few seconds before immediately being cut.

If ever there was a poster child for self-deportation this is it.

WASHINGTON -- Among the 300 amendments to the Senate immigration bill is one that would take away one of its central purposes: giving a pathway to citizenship to the 11 million undocumented immigrants currently living in the United States.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), an almost certain "no" vote on the bill from the so-called gang of eight, filed an amendment on Tuesday to ban anyone who has been in the U.S. without status from becoming a citizen at any point.

10. Except Cubans. They're covered by the Wet Foot/Dry Foot and Cuban Adjustment Act.

No matter how they get here. No matter who they are or their criminal record. No matter having failed a US immigration application investigation (done by US personnel in Cuba). Cubans get to stay. Period. And within 24 hours, by law, they are made fully legal with INSTANT access to perks offered to no other immigrants.

Making it legal for him to be here.

But now that we're talking about an immigration law that would make it legal for other non-Cubans, well, suddenly that's a problem.

Nah, Bob and Doug are a hell of a lot more personable. They'd make better senators, too.
