Most of that teams fans already refer to them as the "Skins" anyways. So just make it official already.

Although, given the team's sad history over the past two decades, I'm still a fan of LOLskins.

In all seriousness though, Washington Pigskins could work. Same amount of letters, same shortened nickname, works well with a football team.

Plus the 1980s era Redskins defensive line was nicknamed the "Hogs" so there's a historical angle to it as well.

A little play off the wording in the Declaration of Independence and they get to keep their logo.

The Washington Redskins have decided to remove the offending word from the team's name. Starting Sunday, they will be known as the Maryland Redskins.
