Texas Laws Make It Incredibly Complicated For Tesla To Sell Cars

Over the last couple of years, Tesla Motors has fought legal and legislative battles in a number of states over proposed or current state laws that try to stymie its unique factory-direct sales and service model.

In most cases--Massachusetts, New York, and North Carolina, among others--Tesla has managed to stave off the proposed laws, which are typically backed by franchised car dealers, or it has won lawsuits based on current laws that were brought by dealer groups.

But in Texas, which has the nation's most Draconian anti-Tesla rules, the company's lobbying efforts have run into a brick wall.

As a result, Texan Model S owners have had to jump through all sorts of odd hoops to buy and maintain their cars.

In short, THIS IS THEIR FREE MARKET.

Texas is ok with unions, as long as they are car dealer unions designed to keep out competition. Crony capitalism at its finest.

There are at least 3 (different) ones that come down our inlet road often.

Mr. Tikki has seen a few others in town (different ones) and that we are off the 101 freeway
we have seen more on the road.

We had a brown paint car years ago, and that brown Tesla is beautiful...as are all colors.

I'm seeign a lot of Tesla's pop up here int he last 3-4 months, a testament to how much people like these cars. I'm not a car guy at all, but the Tesla's are absolutely beautiful machines.

There is a tesla dealership not a mile from my house here in Las Vegas. I see more and more of them on the road here every day. In fact lately I dont think a day has gone by where I havent seen one.

I will likely never be able to afford one but I still love seeing them getting more popular every day here.
