WASHINGTON At first glance, Senator Ted Cruzs wife, Heidi Nelson Cruz, seems to be just the sort of person the Tea Party supporters who celebrate her husbands anti-establishment positions love to hate.
A vegetarian with a Harvard M.B.A., Mrs. Cruz is a managing director at Goldman Sachs, one of the Wall Street firms that helped set off the populist rage that ushered Mr. Cruz into the Senate in 2012. She works for Goldman in Houston, where she lives with the couples two young children, and as her husbands fame has increased depending on the audience, he is among the most pilloried or revered members of the Senate she has maintained a low profile.
I think it works really well for our family for us both to have careers, and I know what my commitments are to Goldman, Mrs. Cruz, 41, said in an interview last week in her husbands Senate office. I think its also really good for our girls to have me at home with them.
Yet the fallout from her husbands role in the Congressional fiscal showdown this month did not spare Mrs. Cruz, one half of what she calls a great team. And it was the Democrats who seemed to be making her background an issue.

I bet she'd be an awful person to try and have a sane conversation with.

(2,347 posts)Either the Tea Party folks are being taken for a ride, or they're being dishonest with the rest of us re their agenda. Either one works for me.

(18,184 posts)Has any one considered that even if she may disagree with him, she actually loves the guy and/or is bound to that person in many different ways, that she would have to support him any way?
I don't see how her views matter, particularly since she has kept a low profile. I'd give her, her space until she courts controversy.
If/when she goes off and spouts off her husband's talking points, then I'd blast her, at the moment these things are speculation at best, and I rather see her for herself, not for her jackass of a husband.

(21,478 posts)And Ted gets his fabulous medical coverage through her? And he's for "the people?" Another fraud fleecing the rubes - but we knew that already. Not just a fraud, a demagogue.
Guarantee ol' Ted is going to be first in line to cut his supporters - and our - Social Security and Medicare.
