NSA accused of spying on Merkel's phone
Published: 23 Oct 2013 19:42 CET

The timing of these two NSA revelations, which have been denied by the US government, are coinciding exactly with Kerry's trip to Europe. The media knows what it's doing.
It's interesting how these stories are coming out while the GOP's numbers are in the tank.
The GOP suffers great damage from the shutdown and the NSA story is suddenly revived by the media. It's also interesting how the media is beating the "fire Sebelius" horse immediately after the GOP calls on Obama to fire Sebelius.

They know the Foxnewsers will forget about all this in ten-seconds, so hitting it hard while the nail is sticking up is very wise.
We should all bow to their Truth telling.

I've actually lost track of all the faux scandals. I'm sure there were more.

Of course, if your fantasies are that Le Monde and Der Spiegel are timing their news stories to help support the Republican party, there's probably nothing we can do to snap you out of it.

(30,439 posts)that these stories came out as Kerry was visiting Europe?

(53,815 posts)their scandal-of-the-month strategy beginning with the endless Benghazi clamoring, the AP/Justice Department, the Fast and Furious gin-up, the NSA/Snowden affair, the IRS fabrication and now the NSA flare up again, they intend to keep things stirred up so nothing can get done. It's all part of their obstructionist plan, and this latest stuff is designed to get the public's eye off their huge shutdown failure.

(19,926 posts)Good lord.
So then Snowden is working with the R's and the media against Obama? And Le Monde and Der Spiegel are in on it too?

(90,768 posts)It should be reported as such, rather than making it seem as though Obama and his appointees invented it and now run it from the Oval Office and the Situation Room.
Whatever fault may lie with the current presidential administration, we are ill-served by pretending that it originated with them. Assign blame proportionately and I for one will listen with rapt fascination as the stinking legacy of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld is opened wide. Blame it all on the Obama Administration and I will walk away.
Note that nowhere in these short paragraphs have I said that the Obama Admin is pure and without error.

(19,926 posts)legal, but arguably unconstitutional. Obama is hardly innocent in this.
The person I responded to was lumping in NSA with Benghazi and calling it a fake scandal. That's just ridiculous. Which is why I asked them about the complicity of others in the NSA debacle.

And anyway, as I already explained once, my reply was about the other poster trying to lump in NSA spying on Americans, which actually is happening, with Benghazi, a Republican's fake scandal.

(9,462 posts)anyone believes his main goal isn't to hurt the United States in world affairs, look at the timing of every piece. Shortly after he was denied asylum in Brazil, (Glenn Greenwald's current home) a piece came out about Brazil. When Obama finally had enough proof to call out China on spying on the US this whole affair comes out. The idea that China and or Russia isn't pulling some strings here seems very unlikely. Especially since all the other countries he's revealed are US Allies like Canada, UK & Australia. There is almost no way he didn't have info on N Korea, Russia and China the three biggest offenders.

(28,552 posts).... is way off. Most Americans could give a rat's ass about overseas spying. And trust me, our "allies" don't need our lamestream press to tell them what is going on, they have known since the Snowden leak.
Big yawn.

(32,017 posts)In fact, I think they have been well-timed to minimize damage to the Democratic Party. It's not like the Europeans want to see Republicans running the show over here. They don't.
But the truth was going to come out eventually, and it appears to me that somebody has timed these releases quite nicely. I have no clue who set this schedule. Assange, perhaps, in consultation with Snowden and with the cooperation of a few key journalists? No clue, but the present dust-up with Merkel could not have come at a better time, imho.
