Our Republican paper has been posting misinformation
on the ACA daily. Here I have a link to todays story. A local village claims they may be taxed 40% because their employee health insurance may be considered a Cadillac Plan. They have 13 employees and will pay $185,283 for health care premiums next year. That figures to $14252 per employee. Well I did a little research, from what I read a Cadillac Plan would be $10200 per individual and $27500 for a family. Well unless nearly all their employees were single they couldn't be in a Cadillac Plan. Then they say they would be taxed 40% and it would cost them $60000 more a year for insurance. Well they are saying their total premiums would be taxed at 40%. That isn't true either, the tax is only on the excess premium over $10200 for an individual and $27500 for a family. Then the topper the tax doesn't take effect until 2018!
