I'm I the only woman that has had it up to here with Viagra and Cialis ads????

In the past, whatever. Annoying - yes.
Embarrassed when a 6 year old asked me what erectile dysfunction is - yes.
But no more embarrassing than when my own daughter asked me what a blow job was when Pres Clinton was being impeached and the term blow job was in bold print daily on the front page of the paper....

I am not a prude and would have happily continued to roll my eyes whenever laundry was interrupted for sex on tv,
In fact I always wonder why that woman doesn't tell her husband that she will be happy to screw his brains out AFTER he helps her with the laundry.

But that was then.
This is now.

Now women's healthcare is under attack. Yes, the majority of women use birth control for just that, but as we all know, the pill is also used for many other reasons. And a pre-qualifier for getting the pill is a pap smear and a breast exam. Wow - protecting women's health... how horrid!!!
ED medicine is used for nothing other than sex.
Women's healthcare is not okay but men's erections are?

I am sick of the double standard. Especially when that crap came out of Rush's mouth - Rush - a man that was caught with someone else's Viagra. http://www.talkleft.com/story/2006/06/27/329/18723 Never in my life did I want to hear the name Rush Limbaugh and viagra used in the same sentence. But I survived. No more.

Leave our healthcare alone and I will shut up about your erections, or lack there of. But until then - keep your sexual inadequacies to yourself - I don't want to hear about it on my tv! And dammit - help her with the laundry.

i hate them that they are continually telling hubby as they get older, the need for a drug, lol. it plays on the male psychic the same as commercials do on the females.... i hate them.

and, i dont watch much tv. so hubby turns it on and the music always pulls me from book. i am watching, waiting to see what it is and inevitably it is one of those damn commercials.

The Pill has this image of enabling orgies when my guess is most contraception is used by married folk to limit the size of their bedrooms without resorting to separate bedrooms. In fact, i wonder if a lot of married men used to patronize prostitutes as a method of limiting their family size. If that's the case, the Pill has really settled things down!

The ED drugs are marketed to older men having physical problems. There are relatively young men in their 50's who because of diabetes or prostate cancer or whatever need some assistance in this area. In fact, these drugs are prescribed as penile therapy post surgery to get things working again ASAP, "use it or lose it".
So we aren't talking drooling geezers trying to satisfy trophy wives. Once again, it's a lot of boring married people using medicine as an aid to their sexual lives.

However - there are a lot of guys (and I have no idea what the ratio would be) who use the ED drugs to engage in what an outside observer might call excessive sexual activity. So, the women who are using the Pill for "respectable"purposes have to pay out of pocket, while the horn dogs are getting a free ride!

Freshness ads geared towards women. In between that, every pill to fix cholesterol, lose weight, be buff and/or make one happy.

Sigh. I guess advertising works one way or another. More is spent by big pharma in marketing, by many folds, than is spent on R and D.

If there is a man with ED who doesn't know the boner pills exist, he's already dead... and not just his Johnson.

I can't imagine why they are still advertised.

Pharma is just wasting their money. Oh... wait... it's OUR money, isn't it. They just add the cost of advertising to their products.

Why are we allowing conservative ignorance on birth control foment progressive ignorance on ED pills?

Viagra and the like are necessary for men who have medical conditions such as diabetes, prostate cancer, low blood pressure and so on. Men, especially young men, losing their virility for whatever reason can be devastating. It can cause all kinds of mental problems including depression, loss of self-esteem and feelings of worthlessness and can cause some men to become suicidal. And the loss of intimacy also damages their partners and their quality of life as well.

Just as birth control pills are not used simply so women can go around fucking at will without consequence, ED pills are not simply for old men to use for recreation. A lot of people really need them and making fun of their condition doesn't sit well with me on a progressive website.

Because they are idiots doen't mean we should be idiots too.

All of these drugs should be covered for everyone, period.

the one's I like least. And being a woman, the fact that insurance does not cover birth control in many instances but does cover Viagra and has since day one is total bull crap. So, rant away. I will rant with you. It goes way beyond double standards. The first time I took those little pills, I was 11 years old, had no idea what sex was, but my body said I was a lady. Only it was not working the way it should. Of course, in those days they were not used for contraception, just for hormone disfunctions that needed to be corrected. I took them for a year. I realized what they were when I was married and did not want another pregnancy and went to the doctor requesting BC pills. Lo and behold they were the same pills I took at age 11. In those days they only cost a couple dollars. But I understand that today they cost a heck of a lot more. My cure for what is going on in Congress today is all women need to go on strike. They are claiming that the only reason one should have sex is to procreate. Well women need to hold them to that. They need to stand firm in the bedroom and say "I don't want any more children. Here is your pillow and a blanket and there is the door. The couch is in the living room". It would be amazing how fast that double standard would even out.
