In an interview this week with RealClearReligion, Herman Cain claims that the sexual harassment allegations that derailed his 2012 presidential campaign were the work of Satan.

The former Godfather’s Pizza CEO said that rebutting the allegations that he sexually harassed at least four women while leading the National Restaurant Association would have been a “huge” time-consuming “distraction” from a campaign he repeatedly claimed was solely about “the issues.” He likened running a presidential campaign to “drinking from a fire hose” and asserted that his accusers are “liars.”

Cain told RCR that the first accuser’s charges were sent to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and were dismissed. Another accuser, represented by celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, has yet to provide an affidavit. And the most well-known accuser, Ginger White, was found guilty of libel in an unrelated case around the same time Cain ended his campaign.

As a result, Cain told the publication that he believes he knows who was behind the accusations that effectively prevented him from reaching the White House: the Devil.

“It made me realize that there was a bigger force than right,” he said, pointing a finger at the media for “not doing their due diligence.”
