Charlie Pierce: Mr. President? The Mail Train From Crazytown Is In

Oh, dear god, we have another dispatch from the monkeyhouse.

"The scope of the problem is so great that, were this a private company or military command, the CEO or general would have been fired," the members write. "We are, therefore, calling on you to hold Secretary Sebelius accountable for the fiasco that is HealthCare.gov and ask for her resignation."

Yeah, that must have been why Jamie Dimon and Lloyd Blankfein hit me up to buy apples that afternoon in 2008, when their incompetence and greed almost threw us back to a point where I'd need change for a bearskin to get on the subway. Anyway, you have to know that these clowns signed this letter while imagining themselves to be back in Philadelphia in 1776, standing tall against tyranny, wearing the only kneebritches that doubled as footie pajamas.

Reps. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Bill Shuster (R-Pa.), Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.), Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.), Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.), Kerry Bentivolio (R-Mich.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.), Randy Weber (R-Texas), Ted Yoho (R-Fla.), Larry Bucshon (R-Ind.), Andy Harris (R-Md.), Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.), Walter Jones (R-N.C.), Louie Gohmert (R-Tex.), Trent Franks (R-Ariz.), Paul Broun (R-Ga.), Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-Mo.), Steve Southerland (R-Fla.), Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), Roger Williams (R-Tex.), Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.), Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.), Bob Gibbs (R-Ohio), Jim Renacci (R-Ohio), Pete Olson (R-Tex.), Phil Gingrey (R-Ga.), Steve Stockman (R-Tex.) and Doug LaMalfa (R-Calif.).

Wow.

Santa Bentivolo, Jim (Dumber Than Inhofe and Coburn Combined) Bridenstine, Market Stabilizer Yoho, Freedom Fries Jones, Insane The Greater Gohmert, Pit Of Hell Broun, Amazing Grace Southerland, Chinese Microchips Hartzler, Insane The Lesser Bachmann, and on and on. How did the House clerk ever find enough crayons. Put all these people in a barrel, roll it down the hill, and there will always be a dipshit on top.

He articulates the constant anger and frustration I feel, better than anybody else.

How long has it been since Microsoft (private sector, publicly-owned corporation, and model of perfection according to pro-business Republicans) released software that worked perfectly?

Never? Indeed. Never. This is just the way software works these days, and most people know it. I think the Republicans are wasting their energy complaining about bad software. Most of us are quite used to it. I don't know what traction they think they are going to get with this silly attack, but I think they will be sorely disappointed when the American public responds with a resounding ... meh!

Jamie and Lloyd did fine for their companies. They got unlimited free cash to cover losses and make new bets. Bankers and shareholders alike made very, very good money.
