Like it's a bad thing.
He uses them to show his hatred for women
It's not about the words, it's the hatred.

(17 posts)I"m just saying that Maher is at least as bad as Rush as far as his comments about women.

(110,159 posts)then i will buy into what you are saying.
the problem is, it is women having sex, no more or less than men having sex. nothing else to connect onto it.

(73,631 posts)Because I know women who'd welcome such names as compliments in private, as the intent is not to shame and insult them, as does The Flaming Nazi Gasbag try to do. Needless to say, those women that I know are pleasantly unashamed of their own sexuality. They own the words as badges and refuse to be offended by them in the proper context.
I can tell you for a fact that they would instead view the way that Limbaugh uses them as an intended insult.
Yes, "slut" in itself is gender specific in a way to shame women singularly. That's the poor and unequal nature of our language.
But, the use of "insults" can be quite nuanced in any specific situation.
Context is everything.

(110,159 posts)no different from a man not needing to own the word to own her sexuality. i get what you are saying having been conditioned in a world where a woman is a "good girl"/"bad girl" or virgin/whore. i too embraced slut to not feel the shame. then said, fuck that.... i dont have to play any of the roles. it is sexual desire no different than mans. as long as i allow myself to be put in a position of not owning my sexuality, even though by "owning" the word it no longer hurts, the reality is, i am allowing y sexuality to be owned by others.

(1,721 posts)the problem are sentences, taken in context, used to demean another person. We all know bullying when we see it, but it's hard to do something about it.
However, I'm all for beating down bullies.

(1,721 posts)in years, I've been getting them again. I tried to think about any changes in diet, exercise, sleep, and that's all the same. Finally, I realized that there's a bully in a volunteer situation that I'm in. The person is an information hoarder, and uses scoffs, eye rolling, body language and demeaning language. I guess the migraines were my way of recognizing the behavior. Next, I must figure out how to deal with the behavior without it having a negative affect on my head.

Usually it takes the form of me losing my temper, which ain't a pretty sight.

(21,946 posts)admit is it takes two to tango. For every woman who uses birth control no matter what age, that means she doesn't have a child she doesn't want at that time and the partner in the tango doesn't either. He just might have to support a child he didn't plan on having for at least 18 years...and she would have to raise it sans birth control.
