The Rude Pundit: Alan Grayson Tells Conservatives and Others to Blow Him

Representative Alan Grayson of Florida is dangerous because he's a rich-ass liberal who doesn't give a shit. That's damned invigorating because, frankly, the Left needs more people who don't give a shit, who have given up on the niceties and the demure decorum by which Democrats, especially, are supposed to act in Washington while Republicans and conservatives can take a photo of President Obama and fuck its face in public while calling Nancy Pelosi a cunt.

Members of the media, conservatives, and some Democrats are currently fanning themselves on the fainting couch over Grayson's fundraising email that explicitly compares the Tea Party to the Ku Klux Klan.

Yeah, the only way it could be more explicit is if Grayson showed a Tea Party gathering with a lynched President Obama hanging in the foreground.

Of course, it's rude shit, right there. It's bomb throwing. It's a clear and obvious attack, absolutely resolute in its opinion, completely without nuance, way over the top, and totally necessary.

Why "necessary"? Because it's now forced Tea Party members to jump out and demonstrate that they aren't racist (even if, you know, they are). Sal Russon, the chief strategist of the Tea Party Express (which is a title that sounds like "Toilet Licker at the Nuthouse&quot wrote in The Daily Caller (motto: "It's either this or more Tucker Carlson on your TV and nobody wants that&quot , "For the Democrats, vicious anti-Tea Party hate speech has become regular and no one seems to hold them accountable, certainly not the compliant major media. This loss of civility is no way to conduct a national conversation." The Rude Pundit's pretty sure that Russo believes Tea Party rallies involve actual doilies and tea pots and not people calling the President a socialist foreigner who worships Allah. And a nigger.

The other beautiful thing about Grayson's comparison is that any time racism does crop up in Tea Party events or Facebook pages or comment threads, it simply proves his point. That's some Karl-Rove-in-his-prime shit right there, and Democrats need that to stomp the GOP into the ground while they're down.

Grayson has made degrading and destroying the Tea Party, if not the entire Republican Party, his mission. They fucked him over before, and now he's telling them they can just blow him. As for the media or anyone who would try to get him to apologize or shut up? Well, there's enough knee pads and lip balm to go around.

On the internet one not need be a member of the Tea Party to spread the hate and hateful comments. But all this name calling is reminiscent of the posters on the right. Disagreement with the majority around here is met with name calling and suggestions of being a paid troll.

"And the point I’m making to you, Martin, is that if you don’t speak out against it then in effect you’re collaborating with it. And in fact, if you give somebody like me a hard time for speaking out against it, then maybe you’re collaborating with it,"

That quote makes Grayson now sound like McCarthy. WOW!

There are two things you need to understand.

1. Going ad-hominem, i.e. attacking the poster instead of their ideas and arguments means you have lost and cannot refute their points.

2. You are eventually going to get more and more posts hidden if you continue and per the new rules instituted by Skinner, you will lose the ability to post. You may even get thrown off the website altogether.

in 2010 or did he manage that all by himself?

That election wasn't even close - With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Republican Daniel Webster had 56 percent of the vote to Grayson's 38 percent in their central Florida district around Orlando. Webster is one of Florida's most experienced Republican politicians, with 28 years in the Florida Legislature where he served as House speaker and Senate majority leader.

In 2012 Grayson won by 62% - and that might be because the district was redrawn and he didn't have to run against popular Webster again.

What are you talking about?

within the party and within the larger liberal cause - which includes the defeat of conservatives.

Grayson has made a niche for himself as the person who says the things that are not said in "polite" political society. Because he has taken on this populist tone, he will likely not be a person who would run for national office - unless he toned down the rhetoric.

Maybe Wasserman-Schultz has higher aspirations and feels the need to show her ability to reach across the aisle.

A lot of times, when I hear the things Obama has to say, too, for instance, I don't take things at face value. For instance, the comment about blogs, etc. and the remarks about false equivalence between left and right. I just assume he has to include one with the other to avoid the accusation that he is not willing to deal with his political opponents in a way that refuses to give them easy ammo.

So, Grayson, or Debbie - they're all providing a voice for people who want to hear their words.

Sometimes Grayson can be abrasive to the point of... yikes... but he is also in the position to start a national conversation on national television about the claims he is making.

Something good about that.. consciousness-raising, even, regarding how a group is perceived by many not within their bubble.

isn't being held on CNN, MSNBC, NPR. Where it is being discussed is on FOX, Limbaugh, Beck etal... and of course it's over the top and is more red meat for their misinformed viewers. MSNBC is ignoring Grayson like the plague since he did this.

DU needs to throw Steve Israel under the bus, and Rep. Joe Crowley, Gerry Connelly too, because they too are not happy with the Congressman from FL. Call them chickenshits and dishrags - not just the female leader of The DNC.

Republican and never misses a chance to admonish a Progressive Democrat.

SHE made the situation. Airc, Grayson said nothing about her at all.

Next time maybe she should some respect for members of her own party and trust that they are grown ups and know exactly what they are doing

It is because of people like Wasserman in leadership positions in this party that we got to the point we are at with the Republicans KNOWING they can get away with their abuse of power.

Grayson has it RIGHT. She needs to take a few lessons from HIM rather than lecturing HIM instead of joining him in his rightful condemnation of these extremists.

Thanks meegbear for this truth from the rudepundit!

I am absolutely furious with conservative Democrats who are calling Alan Grayson out. Look no further, folks. ANYONE who stands up against the "truth-in-front-of-your-face-for-the-last-four-years," is the trouble in the Democratic Party, period.

All Democrats everywhere. Stand up and PROVE who you are. From this point on, call a spade a spade. When you see and hear evil hate politics and hate speech, call it out!

The Republicans have hundreds if not thousands of bomb throwers. The Democrats have one. In an ideal world there would be none but no one would could believe ours is an ideal world. So Grayson throws bombs back at the evil ones and I, for one, thank him for it.

The post below the one cited is even more trenchant.

That anyone around here thinks calling DWS names is important when we are blowing people - including children - to bits randomly in our insane "war on terror" - continued, doncha know, under a D president - strikes me as a near psychopathic inversion of priorities.

I Just Want to Hear Him Deny It

There is a story in politics, commonly attributed to Lyndon B. Johnson, about how LBJ wanted to circulate a rumor attacking his opponent in a Texas election. Johnson, it's said, wanted to spread the story that his opponent liked to have sex with barnyard animals. One of LBJ's aides said, "We can't prove he's a pig f----r."

"I know that," replied Johnson. "I just want to hear him deny it."

Difference with Grayson is that his claim, for the most part, is true.
