Since he has the rest of the court pretty well intimidated, at least on the conservative side.

Judicial Oath
"I, _________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will administer justice without respect to persons, and do equal right to the poor and to the rich, and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all the duties incumbent upon me as _________ under the Constitution and laws of the United States. So help me God."

(58,706 posts)8. Does it really say "So help me God?"
That kind of sucks if it does. I would think that clause would violate Article Six of the Constitution. While many people might say that as a personal affirmation, I'm pretty sure it can't required.
